Saturday 20 February 2021, Day 57 of Level 3 Adjusted, Day 332 of Lockdown 😷
Corona Gratitude 🙏
#Grateful for a lovely relaxed day; for finding Version 3 of the Jacques Pauwgate story on Daily Maverick this morning , and having to post it, the Waterfront restaurant now named; for a litter clean up with Imtiaz, from Bakoven through the lanes and steps to Camps Bay Drive this morning, and cleaning at the Tidal Pool this afternoon again; for collecting my free copy of Daily Maverick 168 at Pick n Pay; for a Skype meeting with the Canadian Tour Guiding Tour Operator and fellow Committee members from around the world, making me grateful for the amount of Lockdown freedom we have in our country compared to many other countries; for Jenny Stephens joining me for dinner at Anatoli Turkish Restaurant, a fun evening with lots of good food; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙
Having met Xolani, head of the City of Cape Town’s Cleansing Division, on Thursday, we met with him and his Area Manager this afternoon at the Tidal Pool, and showed him the litter problems we face, on weekend afternoons in particular. It was less busy today, it being cooler today. On our walk this morning I photographed damaged bins and uncleared bins, which I sent to Xolani, he telling me that he had already taken action during the day to address these problems. German School Learner Liv joined us for the cleanup this afternoon, she having to do 10 hours of community service for her school. 👏👏👏
I was invited to try Anatoli restaurant again, which I had not been to in years, perhaps 30 years ago. It has a cosy informal interior and atmosphere, friendly staff, a large selection of Mezzes, a variety of main courses and desserts, and a lovely Belly Dancer Beth on Saturday evenings. Cleverly she held a domed container, dancing with it, and then presented it to a lucky lady with a marriage proposal and ring inside it, so sweet and unusual. ❤️🌹 Three hours flew by, we leaving just in time.
I saw a rescue helicopter and ambulance near Lions Head, and hope that all was good.

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, lowered to Level 2 from 18 August, lowered to Level 1 from 21 September, and moved back to Adjusted Level 3 from 29 December, extended to 15 February on 11 January, and extended but relaxed on 1 February, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
