Corona Virus: Lockdown Journey Journal, Day 1 of Level 2, 13 September 2021

Monday 13 September 2021, Day 1 of Level 2

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#grateful for a continuous 8 hour sleep, a luxury I haven’t had in ages, feeling energized for what I knew was going to be a busy day; for a sunny day with a mild South-Easter; for work work work work work, Mondays always being busier and closing times having to be changed on all our platforms when we go into a new Lockdown Level; for a maintenance contractor coming to quote on a balustrade at the apartment, something I have begged Sandak Lewin to do for the past 2 years, the contractor sounding very knowledgeable, so much so that I have requested that he quote for the remaining maintenance work we have been quoted R1 million for by someone else recommended by our previous Sandak Lewin Portfolio Manager 😱; for a walk to Camps Bay and another to Bakoven, being so focused on getting back home and work even more, that I didn’t take any photographs, resorting to a pic of my nasturtiums with a sea view; for a long Zoom meeting of our Camps Bay & Clifton Ratepayers Association, and grateful to know that some help could be available for my Nigerian problem; for a long chat with my Alex this evening, happy that he is happy; and for being happy healthy and free. 🙏💙

I was so excited that we have a new woman Portfolio Manager looking after us, and we will meet her soon. She sounds lovely, and is efficient in her replies. Her PA is something else, barking at me today when I informed her that we need to be notified when contractors arrive, I not really having the time for anything other than my work today. This was her ‘charming’ reply:

I am sick and tired of your unnecessarily emails landing in my inbox. Please read your emails with regards to the balustrade’s / quote/s.

I found your email below totally unacceptable, and I am not going to entertain you with this type of behaviour.

I have far more emails and other things to attend to also.’

All I could do was laugh, clearly having triggered her anger button. She has only worked on our account for 13 days 🤣🤣🤣

Today I cashed in some Smart Shopper Card points at Pick n Pay, receiving 1% back on my shopping since obtaining the card a number of years ago. The card was not registered, so the cashier came with me and kindly helped me handle their not-so-Smart machine keyboard which was difficult to use, taking about half an hour. 🙏

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March 2020 and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, lowered to Level 2 from 18 August, lowered to Level 1 from 21 September, and moved back to Adjusted Level 3 from 29 December,  extended to 15 February on 11 January 2021, extended but relaxed on 1 February, and relaxed back to Level 1 on 1 March 2021, moved back to Adjusted Level 2 on 31 May, moved back to level 3 on 16 June, and moved back to Adjusted Level 4 on 28 June, extended by two weeks on 11 July,  returned to Level 3 on 26 July, and returned to Level 2 on 13 September,  is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
