Saturday 1 August 2020, Day 62 of Level 3, after 66 days of Levels 5 and 4 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a beautiful 21C day, feeling like a sunny beach summer day, putting a spring into our steps; for surviving some tense hours as a cat mom, all ending well, with Michele Antelme assuring me that all would be good, and it was 😻; for breakfast with Jenny Stephens on top of Sea Point, enjoying sitting on the 9th floor terrace of Latitude Café; for buying the pair of Adidas shoes from Sportsman’s Warehouse that I had seen online, and for feeling like I’m floating on clouds, soooo comfortable; for spending my Discovery voucher on some Blood sugar test strips at DisChem; for popping into a busy Kleinsky’s to buy poppyseed bagels; for Jenny recommending that I buy a slice of apple tart at Baker Brothers in De Waterkant rather than at the nursery on Main Road in Sea Point, which led me to park outside Kong Grill & Bar, into which I was welcomed and spoilt like I was coming home, having danced there many an evening; for a walk through a very busy Camps Bay, some persons celebrating Eid here, I asking a lady if I could photograph her in her beautiful yellow dress; for rescuing a Woolworths trolley; for dancing to the Kfm Blok party; and for being happy and healthy 🙏💙

The service at Sportsman’s Warehouse was super, my colour and size choice being available, and buying the broader men’s shoe.

DisChem was disappointing as I specifically wanted to do a medical check for Discovery this morning, and was told that one can just arrive on a Saturday morning. But not today, as their Clinic was closed due to a Covid case. 🥵

Latitude Café is on the 9th floor of the Latitude ApartHotel on Regent Road in Sea Point, with perfect weather for breakfast outside. The Covid protocol has become too relaxed, we had to share the lift with hotel guests, not allowing us to be correctly Socially Distanced, and they becoming rude. The waiter’s service was also not as good as it was when I ate there about two weeks ago. But the Eggs Benedict and scrambled egg on toast were very good and well presented.

Dave the Kong Bar & Grill GM invited me in to the restaurant when I had been to the most disappointing Baker Brothers, around the corner. They have used plants to socially distance their tables, and this gives far greater privacy too, the jungle-look suiting the Kong theme. I ordered three bites of their home-made ice creams, and had a Strawberry Appletiser Spritzer made by Dylan the Barman. And received a Frivolity Gift Box, all on the house, just because I parked outside, and they wanting to show me their Sit-Down menu and specials of two mocktails and tapas for the price of one, from 16h00 – 18h00 on Thursdays and Fridays, with a DJ on these afternoons too, as well as on Saturdays. They do Deliveries and Collections too. What a spoil 🙏🙏🙏🙏💙

I was shocked to see that some workers had shoveled much of the beach sand of the Tidal Pool into the stream, sand which blew onto the lawn and walkways during The Storm. 🥵🥵🥵🥵. Joel and I will have to remove it next weekend.

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, and lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
