German Embassy Cape Town Sweet Service Award! Department of Home Affairs Sour Service Award!

The Sweet Service Award goes to the German Embassy in Cape Town, for its assistance in sending my son’s birth certificate in its files to its London Office, to enable my son to renew his passport, given the six month wait on the Department of Home Affairs to receive an original copy of the unabridged birth certificate! Initially the staff member told me that it was not possible, but then took pity on me, and promised to send it.

The Sour Service Award goes to the Department of Home Affairs in Barrack Street, for its tardiness in providing an unabridged birth certificate for my son, which I applied for six months ago, with the promise of receiving it within eight weeks!  A follow-up visit as well as fortnightly calls, leading to promises of escalation and marking the request as urgent, met with no success at all, until I received the SMS to collect it yesterday!

The WhaleTales Sweet & Sour Service Awards are presented every Friday on the WhaleTales blog. Nominations for the Sweet and Sour Service Awards can be sent to Chris von Ulmenstein at chrisvonulmenstein [at] Past winners of the Sweet and Sour Service Awards can be read on the Friday posts of this blog.
