MCQP 2017 to be held on 16 December at The Castle, theme of ‘Dungeons & Dragons’!

At the first ever Christmas in July MCQP Party held last Friday evening, it was announced that the MCQP Party 2017 will be held at the Castle of Good Hope, the oldest building in the city, and that the theme for the 24th MCQP Party 2017 is ‘Dungeons & Dragons’

The ‘Dungeons and Dragons’ theme will cover a broad spectrum of elements, including ‘dark forces, mystical creatures, characters from Game of Thrones and from the time of Merlin; a gathering of knights, kings and queens, royalty and warriors, bloodthirsty animals, monsters and other dark
and demented creatures
‘, the media release informed.

The Castle of Good Hope was last used as a MCQP venue 17 years ago, and the choice of venue is special as The Castle celebrates its 351 years’ existence this year.  The MCQP Party is South Africa’s biggest and longest running costume party, attracting thousands of attendees from across the country and internationally.

Ian McMahon, Director of MCQP, said about the 2017 Party: ‘We’re going bigger, better and bolder than ever before. Hundreds of wannabe Jon Snows, Tyrion Lannisters, Daenerys Targaryens, Khaleesi’s, the Amazon woman- Brienne of Tarth, Merlin, or other creatures of the night will descend on ‘Cape Landing’ this summer to follow the dark knights of doom at the event. It’s going to be a MCQP like never before. Who will you be or will you come and cast a spell on them all?’

International DJ and event organiser Candice Heyns has joined the team of organisers, and will share her vast knowledge on the latest international trends. Executive Project Manager of MCQP, she added:  ‘We’ll conjure up the great songs of Fire and Ice and the best DJs from far beyond the western reaches of the great wall. Do your research on all things dark in order to decide on your outfit – of knights and warriors, of creatures of the dark ages or from spells out of Merlin’s own book’.
