The Sweet Service Award goes to Maison J Café et Croissant in Camps Bay. The coffee and croissant outlet and coffee shop opened just as I moved to Camps Bay almost three months ago, and has been a haven of exceptional service. Every day that I have been there to have a cappuccino, which is almost daily, necessitating a walk and eliminating the need to drive elsewhere for my daily fix, co-owner David Chait and/or Operations Manager Guy have been at the outlet, with one exception. Not being partial to paper cups, I have been allowed to bring my own cup for my dry cappuccino which is made perfectly, and as quickly as possible, the staff starting to make it when they see me crossing the road. Guy has helped me carry the Breakfast party boxes of croissants and bagels to my home twice already. There is always time for a friendly chat, and I pick up information about happenings in Camps Bay. Maison J has set a very high service standard in Cape Town.

The Sour Service Award goes to the City of Cape Town, for the street lights at the top end of Camps Bay Drive not having been switched on for the past week. Last night I drove to town and back, in mist and rain, very dangerous without the lights, as the street lines are faded, not having been painted in many years!
