Last week my friend Jo-Ann von Willingh and I enjoyed a spoiling breakfast at the Café Grill at the Twelve Apostles Hotel, not only offering value for money but also excellent service from Sikelele.

Since returning from walking the Camino in Spain, I am looking for every opportunity to
walk to keep fit. I arranged to meet Jo-Ann at the Twelve Apostles Hotel, and it took me exactly one hour to cover the 4 km walk along the Atlantic Ocean. It was a beautiful day, with clouds, ahead of a cold front moving in, and the ocean was flat and waveless.

I arrived ahead of Jo-Ann, and ordered my first dry cappuccino of the day. Sikelele indulged my love for their mini-Smarties and marshmallows, and I took some photographs inside and outside, Sikelele suggesting that she take one of me at the swimming pool with the beautiful hibiscus bushes.

The Café Grill Breakfast winter special offers three cooked breakfast options, at the price of R95 each:

#  Eggs Benedict, described as ‘A Touch of Elegance’, offering two poached eggs with a choice of bacon or salmon. Jo-Ann ordered this dish.

#  ‘The Full Monty’, being two eggs prepared to one’s liking, with crispy back bacon, pork sausage, beef sausage, sautéed mushrooms, and grilled tomato.

#  Cape Croissant Breakfast, ‘Light Yet Luxurious’ the menu described, with creamy scrambled eggs, smoked salmon trout (my trout had a heart shape in its plating, amazing for me as I am seeing hearts everywhere), and chive crème fraîche.

We received rye toast too with mini jars of jam, marmalade, and honey, and I drank a number of cappuccinos, which were all included in the price, proving to be excellent value. In the absence of Food and Beverage Manager Hilton Ruch, Angus van Aarde came to our table to check that all was in order.

We enjoyed three hours of fun at the hotel. Jo-Ann is a professional photographer, and she made me pose at various beautiful spots of the hotel grounds, with its tile mosaic (left), rock pool, swimming pool, Leopard Bar, and terraces with a view of the Atlantic Ocean and Lion’s Head in the background.

It was a lovely morning spent at the Twelve Apostles Hotel, and its Winter Breakfast Special tastes good and offers excellent value, with excellent service as one is used to from this hotel.
