Twelve Apostles Hotel & Spa accommodates well-behaved pets with special Pets Menu!

12 A Barbara Lenhard and JoyaThe Twelve Apostles Hotel & Spa is one of the first hotels to have recognized the special bond between pets and their owners, in accommodating pets with sleeping arrangements, but also in terms of a new special gourmet Pets’ Menu!

Twelve Apostles Executive Chef Christo Pretorius has worked closely with the Panorama Veterinary Clinic & Specialist Centre, to develop its brand new Pet Menu.  The pampered pets may dine in their room via Room Service, or in The Leopard Bar. The ‘Bark-A-Licious’ menu for small dogs offers Beef Fillet with potato wedges and gravy;  or ostrich mince with cooked oats, flax seeds, fresh apple, and dried cranberries. ‘The Purrfect Choice’ 12 A Ostrich Burgermenu for cats includes salmon trout and scrambled eggs; or poached chicken breast with flax seeds, potato, garden peas, and chicken consommé.  The Pets’ Menu peaks at R105.

Regular visitors to the hotel are Barbara Lenhard of Opulent Living, and her cross Labrador/Staffie/Boxer Joya. She said about the pet service of the hotel: ‘The way they treat the dog and its owners, that’s why I love taking Joya there. The moment we walk in together they greet me and Joya by name. It’s hilarious but they make the experience all worth it’.

The hotel’s resident cat Ingwe welcomes the pet guests, which stay for free in special pet-friendly suites, with their own beds with bedding and blankets in their owners’ rooms. They receive a special Pet Welcome Note & Pack when they check-in. Special services offered are pet-walking, pet-sitting, a midnight feast, or special pet supplies.

The Pet Tourism trend is so big that JF Kennedy airport has announced that it is building ‘The Ark‘ pet airport, at which passengers traveling with their pets can be accommodated. Special services will include splash pools and ‘pawdicures‘!

Bea Tollman, the founder and President of the Red Carnation Hotels group, travels with her own two dogs when visiting the hotels in the group, all of which are pet-friendly, creating a home-away-from-home for their guests and pets in our country, as well as in the USA and UK.

Diners at Azure in the Twelve Apostles can be assured that pets are not allowed in the hotel restaurant, other than guide dogs. Only well-behaved small and medium-sized cats and dogs are allowed to check in at the Twelve Apostles & Spa!
