The Sweet Service Award goes to Goodluck, a South African electro music band, which played at La Parada Constantia Nek last Sunday, to thousands of fans. As I dance to DJ René Tanguy at the venue every Sunday, this was a surprise change, and an initial disappointment, in that I did not know the band. The singer Jules was infectious, and the producer Ben played others’ tracks too, making it a very danceable hour. I won a CD give-away, such amazing good luck… I spoke to both Ben and Jules afterwards, very lovely natural and unaffected musicians. I spent four days in the village of McGregor last week, last having been there four months ago. I spent such a relaxing and special time there, that I wish to acknowledge with gratitude the contribution which each of the following made to me during my stay:
The Sweet Service Award goes to Standard Bank Sea Point and its Manager Colleen Sampson, for assisting me in receiving my interest payment on a fixed deposit, due on the first of the month, which took until 4 January to be paid with the help of her intervention. She was feisty in dealing with her colleagues in the bank’s IT Department, demanding immediate rectification of the computer glitch which had caused the problem.
