After the successful inaugural Kfm Best of the Cape Awards of last year, the Cape’s largest radio station has announced that it is running the competition again this year, to seek the best in the Western Cape.

Corona Lockdown ‘Advanced Level 3’ regulation devastating, alcohol not being allowed to be consumed in Restaurants, Bars, Shebeens, and Taverns when they are allowed to reopen!

While President Ramaphosa spoke to the nation on Wednesday evening, announcing the long-awaited news that restaurants are to reopen for Sit-Down Service on an as yet unnamed date, a Tweet was sent out by the Government information service, announcing that the following is prohibited:  ‘Consumption of Alcohol in restaurants, bars, shebeens, and taverns’ . This has caused a shitstorm in the restaurant industry, already struggling to make ends meet via Restaurant Food and Alcohol Delivery and Collection. President Ramaphosa announces Restaurants to reopen for Sit-Down Service, looks after women by allowing Personal Care industry to reopen and lambasts men for gender-based violence, non-contact sports allowed!

 

In an interesting Address by President Ramaphosa this evening, almost as much time was spent lambasting men about the violence and crime perpetrated against women and children, as was curbing the spread of the Corona Virus addressed, with new industries which are to reopen announced.

Restaurants may reopen for a Sit-Down Service, Personal Care services such as hairdressers and beauty salons may reopen, ‘licensed’ accommodation excluding Air BnB may reopen, public gathering restrictions will be loosened, theatres and cinemas will reopen, casinos will reopen, conference facilities will reopen, and non-contact sports such as cricket, tennis, and golf may be played. However, no date was announced nor were the specific regulations per type of business addressed. Corona Virus Lockdown Level 4: New Government-allowed businesses to reopen, with some ridiculous regulations!

 

The Government is easing the restrictions of the economy, slowly but surely, and gazetted the opening up of three further industries two days ago, with immediate effect: Car sales, Winter clothing, and small businesses.
