The Sweet Service Award goes to Waterfront Leathers, and its sales assistant Suraya Isaacs, for her excellent service in selling me a Cellini suitcase at a reasonable price. She was knowledgeable about the brand, found me a suitcase in a blue which matches a smaller suitcase I had already bought in the UK, and proactively offered to change the code on the combination lock from the standard supplier one. This was a vast difference to the poor service I received at Frasers, where the sales assistant did not want to listen to my requirements in a suitcase.

The Sweet Service Award goes to Discovery Vitality, for keeping its promises on offering its physically active members cash back on their purchases of healthy foods at Woolworths and Pick ‘n Pay, on their shopping at Clicks, and at Sportman’s Warehouse. In addition, they have weekly rewards for fitness achievements, none of which I had used until I visited The Point Mall branch earlier this week, when I received a surprise reward of a car wash at Body Wash discounted to R15 instead of the cost of R80.  (more…)

Last month saw the opening of Tiger’s Milk Kloof Street, Marrow, Davy Croquettes, The Yard, Schoon de Companje in its new premises, Pierino Penati at Villa 47, and Firefish, amongst others.

We update information about newly opened and closed restaurants continuously, and welcome such news.

The Granary Café, The Silo Rooftop, Bosjes Kombuis, The Deck at Hidden Valley, The Chicken Shop, Harrington’s Cocktail Lounge, and Yuzu Kitchen & Bar opened in Cape Town and the Winelands during March. Surprisingly (or not!) both Baked on Long and Baked on Regent Street have closed down, as has Love, Revenge, and Cappuccino closed down! We update information about newly opened and closed restaurants continuously, and welcome such news.

I don’t often visit Lifestyle on Kloof, but needed to buy something at Wellness Warehouse yesterday morning, so spent an interesting morning, revisiting the centre, and some of its more quirky shops. My shock surprise was discovering the jam-packed Olive Branch Deli, a ‘Community Grocer‘ which has been in the centre, adjacent to Woolworths, for 18 months already!  (more…)

After a record year of restaurant openings, the pace of new restaurants opening in Cape Town and in the Winelands has slowed down, with no new restaurant openings in January, to our knowledge.
