Corona Virus: Lockdown Journey Journal, Day 19 of Level 4, 19 May 2020.

Tuesday 19 May 2020, Day 19 of Level 4, after 35 days at Level 5 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for another beautiful day, without any clouds to block the sun, feeling much warmer than the 20C forecast; for a very long sleep last night; for a warm Exercise Time, slightly busier, walking up to Clifton 2nd Beach, my heart exertion not being as good as on the previous days, as I had to keep picking up litter, there was so much of it en route today; for the luck of being gifted two Maison J croissants, it being their first day of selling them again; for the even greater luck of crossing the road from Maison J to almost bump into #eyecandy, then walking back home together, he living just down the road from me 😳🙃; for finally facing the last filing which I’ve been looking at and ignoring… until today, throwing away old notes and notebooks filled with restaurant reviews, and organizing financial files; for loving dancing to Kfm 💃; for the prospect of being able to first foster and than adopt a little girl kitty Minsky after Lockdown ends, if I am approved 🐱, with huge thanks to Michele Antelme for seeing this on a DARG post; for rearranging my terrace, a new beginning of sitting and writing outside; for an excellent weekly report by FitBit, with 126000 steps and 90 km, and a new Lockdown record of an average of 18000 steps and 13 km per day this past week; and for feeling happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

Keeping fit whilst being confined to home during the Corona Virus Lockdown!

My biggest fear initially about our Lockdown was not being able to exercise, being a twice a day walker in my suburb of Camps Bay, thereby meeting my daily goal of 10000 steps, deemed by the American Heart Association to be the minimum we need. While I have Solo danced in my home on occasion, to make up this daily goal prior to Lockdown, I had never thought it possible to do 10000 steps, let alone even up to 16000 steps, being confined to my home. Easter Sunday 12 April 2020 🐣🐰, Day 28 of S A Corona Virus, Day 17 of SA Lockdown 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a wonderful and peaceful Easter; for waking up to a gloriously wet garden, after it rained heavily all night long; for being connected to so many friends today, one going back to last communicating 4 years ago; for so many happy memories of past Easters, and lovely Brunches on my terrace, which we would have had today to celebrate Easter, had we not been in Lockdown; for the joy in giving on a day like today ❤️ ; for loving listening to the Messiah by Handel at the start to my day, in bed, it being performed on Easter Sundays in the City Hall year after year, my absolute Easter highlight; for so many Easter wishes from around the world; for it being warm enough to wear a summer dress when the sun came out; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

Friday 10 April 2020, Day 26 of SA Corona Virus, Day 15 of SA Lockdown 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for such a gooood Good Friday; for another beautiful sunny day at 22C; for dancing/walking around my home to Kfm; for how little money I’ve spent this month so far; for the friendly locals walking past to shop, all greeting; to have such a fabulous home and view to be Lockdowned in; and for feeling fit, happy, and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

Sweet Service Award goes to Vodacom, Sour Service Award goes to Discovery!

The Sweet Service Award goes to Vodacom in the Waterfront, and its staff member Rashied, who assisted me in getting my phone reconnected. Since December I have continuously received messages and calls to tell me that I owe Vodacom just over R1300, but I am fully paid up. Calling the ‘Customer Service’  Department is a nightmare, as one cannot get through to the Accounts Department. Rashied looked up my details on the computer, said that there is nothing owing on my account, and reconnected my phone with immediate effect. Yet a few days later I received a SMS message to tell me that I am being switched to a Top Up package, so this is not yet the end of the saga! Continue reading →

‘SwitchBitch Book 2: My Journey of Transformation in Walking the Camino from Sole to Soul’ has been launched!

It is an exciting achievement to have published the second book in my SwitchBitch trilogy, entitled ‘SwitchBitch: My journey of transformation in Walking the Camino, Sole to Soul’, following in the footsteps of SwitchBitch Book 1, which I launched a year ago. SwitchBitch Book 1 focused on my Physical transformation, in losing 45 kg, while Book 2 is focused on the Spiritual transformation after walking the Camino. Yesterday the Book was presented at a Preview launch at Stargarden Boutique Café in Fish Hoek. Continue reading →

FitBit a fabulous fitness tool and motivation, discovering my health and fitness with Discovery!

I have not been fitness-conscious in many years, but in preparation for my Camino walk, I decided to invest in a FitBit, a watch that not only tells the date and time, but also provides information about one’s activity in terms of steps and kilometers covered, calories burned, and one’s heart rate. All the measures are tracked daily and weekly, from the time that one startswearing the FitBit. Continue reading →
