Last night I hosted another ‘SwitchBitch: My journey of transformation from Sour to Sweet!’ Book Launch celebration, at La Parada Constantia Nek. A light drizzle blessed the event, and we called it a Book-wetting, in celebration of our much-needed rain in Cape Town!  (more…)

I was invited to the newly opened Coco Safar a few days ahead of its opening in the newly refurbished Artem centre, previously the Adelphi Centre in Main Road in Sea Point. A week ago I invited a young chef intern to join me for Brunch at Coco Safar, on a Sunday morning.  (more…)

Please forgive this very personal Blogpost today, written in gratitude for how my life has changed due to a chance visit at Constantia Nek a year ago today. La Parada at Constantia Nek has become THE home of dancing on Sunday evenings, not just for me but for hundreds of Capetonians too.

In less than a week after opening its newest Tiger’s Milk Restaurant & Bar on Kloof Street in Cape Town, the restaurant is operating smoothly, as if it has always been there. It is already busy, attracting custom with little marketing effort to date by the Harbour House Group. A hugely exciting attraction is that DJ René Tanguy will be playing at the newest Tiger’s Milk on Fridays, starting this week. It is the 26th Harbour House Group restaurant to open.  (more…)

On Tuesday evening I had the honour of experiencing Rare Grill, which was named 2017 The Wolftrap Steakhouse Championship winner, the first time in the five year history of the Championships that a Cape Town steakhouse has won the award. On Thursday evening Llewellyn Lambert and I attended the media launch of the HQ World Class Cocktail Menu, the theme of the event being Wild West. We tried five of the six cocktails on the HQ cocktail menu, developed by Warren Cowdy, the HQ General Manager. (more…)

On a day that was already going well, it was hard to imagine that it could get even better with an invitation to attend the 2017 launch of the #HQFineWining (what a clever hashtag) series of food and wine pairing dinners. Graham Beck bubblies were served and we were told that bubbly pairs well with all kinds of foods, including the well-known HQ steak! (more…)

On Thursday afternoon I attended the launch of UberEATS in a private home in Willesden Road in Camps Bay, with the backdrop of a beautiful sunset. The launch follows that in Johannesburg four months ago, the city having seen 200000 downloads of the UberEATS App in the first two months of its launch.  (more…)

PigalleThe Sweet Service Award goes to Pigalle, whose manager Warren answered the phone, and my questions regarding their Winter Specials so efficiently, being a good listener, and answering to the point!  I was shocked at how poorly restaurant phone calls are answered, especially those linked to hotels, when I made calls to more than 100 restaurants for their Restaurant Winter Specials information in the last week!
