Janse & Co has quickly become my favorite daytime quality lunch venue for a spoiling meal with special friends. To attract more daytime visitors, the restaurant has amended its offering, allowing diners a shorter lunch option, bringing down the price. imageBetty Blue Bistro had been on the top of my Hermanus restaurant list, and I arranged to meet my UK friend Lisa Harlow there for lunch, seven months after my last visit to the famous whale-watching town. Lindt logoThe Sweet Service Award goes to Lindt Chocolate Studio and its Manager Dimo Simatos, for organising a special delivery of its Lindt turndown chocolates we use for the guest houses. Having popped in at the Studio almost two weeks ago, with all the staff attending a conference on that day other than one young disinterested lady, who told me that they would only receive delivery of the chocolates two days later.  She did not tell me that I would have to place an order for the chocolates, something I have never had to do before. Calling later in the week, I was told that all 10000 such chocolates had sold out in the two days since delivery.  The next delivery would only take place in two weeks from that time.  I told Dimo that I needed the chocolates desperately, having run out due to their supply problem.  He promised to make a plan, and was true to his word, in that I could fetch the chocolates yesterday, one week earlier than delivery had been promised. Bistro 1682 Tasting Room Whale CottageI had so looked forward to meeting Chef Kerry Kilpin at Bistro Sixteen82 yesterday, not thinking that the chef would not be at her post, or to ask when booking if she would be in the kitchen.

I made the booking with Nicole, something I don’t often do, but for the drive between Camps Bay and Constantia it was worth doing, given how full of tourists Cape Town still is.  I had invited regular and loyal Blog reader Lisa Harlow from the UK, on holiday in the Cape currently, to join me for lunch, so that we could try Chef Kerry’s (more…)
