On Thursday I attended a function in the Cape Town Harbour, and spontaneously called ceramicist Diana Ferreira, to ask her if I could visit her studio in Paarden Eiland close by. Diana is one of our country’s leading ceramicists, specializing in restaurant dinnerware. (more…)

Tiletoria Sweet Service and One&Only Cape Town Sour Service Awards!

The Sweet Service Award goes to Tiletoria in Paarden Eiland, and its sales assistant Abeda Murray, for assisting a few weeks ago with two small bathroom wall tiles required as replacement in our guest house. Usually tile retailers force one to buy a box of tiles as a minimum, or tend to be out of stock with the tile size and/or colour one needs, necessitating one to drive from one tile retailer to the next in Paarden Eiland. Abeda found two sample tiles in the back room. She refused to accept payment for the tiles, and throughout the short visit she was friendly and professional. Earlier this week I returned to buy a box of the wall tiles, and once again her service was excellent. (more…)
