The Winter months are always tough on restaurants, as diners are not keen to leave their homes when it is cold and wet. With the reduced trade, added to Loadshedding,  and the earlier Curfew start time, restaurants are keen to attract business by offering Winter specials.

Camps Bay Restaurants operating over the Festive Season, many are open right through!

 

With beaches now allowed to be open until 19h00,  Camps Bay Restaurants are likely to be busy for the next two weeks.

Not all restaurants will be open on Christmas Day or on 1 January, so I have compiled a list of the Camps Bay restaurants, with their trading days.

Restaurants offering Sit-Down service in Cape Town and Winelands in Lockdown Level 3: a First List!

 

On Monday restaurants were allowed to reopen for Sit-Down Service, after having only been allowed to offer a Food Delivery service from May, and a Food and Alcohol Delivery and Collection Service from June onwards.

I have been requested to prepare a list of Restaurants offering a Sit-Down Service, in addition to the Facebook Group which I created of Restaurants offering Food and Alcohol Delivery and Collection. Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a beautiful summery Winter day, ahead of a weather change tomorrow; for a good working morning; for an energetic walk to Fourth Beach Clifton, with no torn garbage bags; for being excited to see the City Parks department coming to Camps Bay to mow the lawns, the area around the Stream looking superb now; for checking out which restaurants are open for Sit-Down in Camps Bay; for a shop at Woolworths, Manager Gary Arendse coming to greet me after we hadn’t seen each other there for a while; for a VitD snooze on the terrace; for our vegetable garden getting on fabulously; for my suggestion to our Portfolio Manager to connect Henry to the internet in a money-saving manner being accepted, a positive outcome from the AGM yesterday🙏; for getting a Discovery Gameboard play; for receiving R300 CashBack on the jacket which I bought at Sportsman’s Warehouse, and R340 for my healthy food purchases at Woolies, both done in June, a nice surprise from Discovery; for Minsky just returning from a long walk-about which made me very anxious🐱; and for being healthy and happy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

Restaurants allowed to reopen for Sit-Down Service from today, but do they really want to? Many will wait for Alcohol Sales to be allowed and/or for Summer!

 

Today is a day of excitement as well as disappointment for restaurateurs, who have so looked forward to reopening their doors for a Sit-Down Service. The official reopening date is today, but sadly it appears that many restaurant doors will remain closed, restaurateurs citing the prohibition of serving alcohol with a meal, and this being the quietest time of the year for restaurants as the reasons why they will not reopen now, continuing with their Food and Alcohol Delivery and Collection Service. Corona Virus: Strict (but confusing) new Law for licensed Restaurants, Clubs, Shebeens, and Bars announced!

 

A report just seen on News24 states that the Government has announced that all licensed restaurants, shebeens, clubs, and bars have to close their doors at 18h00 on Mondays to Saturdays, and at 13h00 on Sundays and public holidays, with immediate effect. This is a devastating announcement for the hospitality industry which was not addressed  by President Cyril Ramaphosa’s speech on Sunday evening. South Africans are still reeling after hearing the speech broadcast by President Cyril Ramaphosa yesterday evening in how the government is implementing measures from today onwards in combatting and containing the Corona Virus in our country, with drastic consequences for every one of us, including every business.
