#grateful for surviving a record-breaking 37C day, the hottest this summer; for my Alex and Patryk arriving safely, spoiling me with two bottles of my favorite ckone and a massive Toblerone; for bumping into my Tourist Guiding lecturer Julie Womack at the airport, also meeting family; for a lovely breakfast at Zest for the hungry boys; for Camps Bay being busy but not as manic as it was two weeks ago, cars parked on Victoria Road at 7h15 already, when I drove to the airport; for our building Continue reading →
German couple Wolfgang and Cornelial wanted some Cape sunshine, and booked a two week trip to Cape Town spontaneously. Their travel agent booked them three destinations: Franschhoek, Sanbona, and the V& A Waterfront in Cape Town. They had visited Cape Town seven years ago.
The Travel Ban was instituted by most countries in Europe, the USA and UK on their last day, a Black Friday of 26 November. They received notification late that evening that their Qatar flight to Frankfurt had been cancelled for the following day. Instead of being upset about it, they saw the positive side of it, in enjoying a further week in our beautiful Cape and country. Continue reading →

Corona Gratitude 🙏
#grateful for a cool day initially after rain overnight, becoming misty and then clearing up, becoming humid; for catching up on sleep, on writing blogposts for next week, and on walking outside, having been below my step quota in the past two days 😱; for trying out the new The Pottery which opened in Camps Bay this week, opposite the Pick n Pay and Woolies parking area, next to Dizzy’s; for bumping into two German tourists, on honeymoon and not very happy after their first week in Cape Town, she having been ill, and complaining about the overflowing litter bins and ‘rich’ Camps Bay not matching Ibiza Continue reading →
#grateful for a cool grey wintery day, feeling colder than the 19C forecast for today, with a little rain this evening and drizzle at times; for posting for each of my clients this morning; for a catch up snooze this afternoon; for being able to assist my German tourists in planning their next 7 days here, after they heard last night that their Qatar flight back home was cancelled for today 😱, so I went to see them at the V&A Hotel, and they chose to go to Paternoster for the next few days, I booking them the Strandloper Hotel and negotiating a better rate for them, getting one night free, where after we Continue reading →
