Tuesday 12 January 2021, Day 15 of Level 3 Adjusted, Day 293 of Lockdown 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a hot day at 27C, and forecast to be even hotter tomorrow; for a short writing working day, having done most of the preparation last night; for getting my car serviced at Audi Century City, the Service Manager Hennie Kriel looking after my baby and replacing the battery, the Maintenance Plan running out later this month; for a Canal Walk shopping morning while I waited for my car, Hennie driving me across to the Centre and fetching me; for a walk to Camps Bay to buy some Kitten wet food at Pick n Pay; for a catch up call with my Alex, hearing his exciting business plans; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙

Hennie Kriel is the most amazing ambassador for Audi. Last year they amalgamated the Waterfront and Century City branches in the latter space. I had done a shopping list for Canal Walk, not my favorite centre, but it was a good way to get half my steps, and to get everything I needed. My first stop was Woolies, deserted, as were most shops. I was so excited to find the perfect pair of smart shorts that I bought two pairs! I went grocery shopping there too, and then had breakfast at their WCafé. The rye bread toast was thin and breaking in parts, so I muttered a complaint to the Manager Degit. At first she seemed disinterested in what I had to say, but returned with two newly made toasts, and then her attitude switched completely, offering me jam or grated cheese, normally extras, and said that she remembered me from their Sea Point branch. It was a total spoil thereafter. I bought my monthly stash of Smarties at DisChem, having researched that their price was the best. I bought refills for pens at CNA. I bought Kitten pellets at Absolute Pets, prescribed by the adoption agency. I sat at Standard Bank patiently, distanced at least 2 meters apart, to get a proof of my residential address for getting my car license renewed later this week. I had just done all my shopping when Hennie messaged me to say that he was coming to fetch me. I signed up for an extension to the Audi Maintenance Plan for another year. My driving last year fell to 6000 km compared to more than 10000 km per year prior to that.

It was too good to be true that Discovery Insure would promise that they would take my premium payment within 48 hours of my call six days ago…. nothing having happened 😱. I called this afternoon, and the efficient Flora could see that zero instructions had been entered for my reference number, hence no payment action! 🥵 I’ve been promised that payment will be taken in 48 hours….. holding thumbs. 😱

All preparations for collecting my kitten tomorrow have been done. I have a naughty name for him, which I’ll reveal tomorrow. Very kind Camps Bay resident Jo Olsen lent me her cat carrier, which I collected this afternoon. 😻

It is six weeks ago today that we last saw our KitKat love. 😿😻

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, lowered to Level 2 from 18 August, lowered to Level 1 from 21 September, and moved back to Adjusted Level 3 from 29 December, and extended to 15 February on 11 January, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
