Sunday 26 April, Day 42 of SA Corona Virus, Day 31 of SA Lockdown 😷
Corona Gratitude 🙏
#Grateful for another warm, even humid, day, feeling warmer than the 22 C forecast, sweating while I dance/walk to Kfm; for feeling very energetic today, in writing an unplanned BIogpost, and creating a new Facebook page; for Petra Renate Quinlan agreeing to make some cloth masks for me from some leftover scarves, which are compulsory from Friday; for good old-fashioned calls with friends; for a friendly Bay Response Officer Saliem stopping outside our block and asking if I am alright when I was dancing on the terrace; and for feeling happy and healthy 🙏💙
I was chatting to one of my Havana friends early this morning, and she sent me a link to a Havana news service article about the 200 Cuban doctors arriving here today, referred to in the media briefing yesterday morning, and what we have given back to Cuba in return. Strange to see masks included when we may not have enough for our country! She also shared how they struggle with the medical services there currently, she having to use it regularly for check-ups, being pregnant. That led to a Blogpost.
Corona Virus: South Africa sends medical equipment to Cuba, 200 Cuban doctors arrive in our country!
I’ve been thinking how I can give to the restaurant industry, other than my physical input. Today it struck me: a new Facebook page listing all the restaurants which will open on Friday to offer a Take-Away Food Delivery Service, as per Level 4 regulations. The page is called ‘Take Away Food Deliveries Level 4 Cape Town and Winelands’, but I’ve already added the Garden Route and West Coast too. We already have over 300 members within 2 hours, and I still haven’t sent out all the invitations yet, doing it while I walk/dance. Time is flying.

A lovely long phone chat with Dino (not the two DJs), sounding very upbeat too. And one from swallow Gabi from Germany, who is missing Camps Bay. 💙💙
I tried to test using a cotton scarf as a mouth and nose guard, the first attempt at wearing a mask, but I felt completely claustrophobic, in barely being able to breathe. I have therefore asked Petra to make proper masks for me from leftover cotton scarves, with elastics over the ears. 😷
A fiesty looking cloud cover building up, with thunderstorm/rain clouds, and a very strong South Easter forecast.
SA Corona Status: 4646 cases 87 deaths 😷😢

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier this week to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, and lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
