Saturday 22 August 2020, Day 5 of Level 2, Day 149 of Lockdown 😷
Corona Gratitude 🙏
#Grateful for a summer day today, even warmer than yesterday, at 22 C, one seeing it everywhere: the Hop On Hop Off bus driving through Camps Bay, well filled, the beaches being popular, with beach volleyball and umbrellas to be seen, hordes of picnickers, and a traffic jam snaking through Camps Bay; for the exciting first-time meeting with Venishree and Jürgen Mayer Family, coming to me for lunch all the way from their Fraaigelegen Farm in Tulbagh, where they produce their award-winning ADHARA extra virgin olive oil, the name of a Star ⭐️, one of few seen in both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres, symbolizing their German and South African roots; for the generous delivery of more ADHARA olive oil, to hand out to our women restaurateurs; for a walk through Camps Bay this morning, and Bakoven this afternoon; for speaking to my Alex this morning, sounding happy and doing very well work-wise; for dancing to the Kfm Blok Party this evening; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙
Joel didn’t come to me for his fortnightly Camps Bay clean-up this morning, without notification. It meant that I had more time to get my lunch prepared, and go for the Camps Bay walk. I had to get a few things at Woolies on the way.
Not only did Verishnee and Jürgen bring more ADHARA supplies, but they also brough the hugest chocolate truffle mousse cake, which became our dessert together with my left-over Salted Caramel Popcorn Cheesecake. Oi vey 😱. Verishnee and Jürgen told me about their journey which led to them moving from Germany and the UK to Tulbagh in 2015, buying a farm with self-catering accommodation as well as olive trees and vines. They were full of praise about the support and guidance they received from fellow Olive farmers in Tulbagh, not having farmed before. Their grapes are bought by Pasarene in Franschhoek, a top wine producer. In their third year ADHARA won a S A Olive award, and has done so every year since.👏👏👏

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, and lowered to Level 2 from 18 August, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
