Corona Virus: Lockdown Journey Journal, Day 92 of Level 1, 21 December 2020.

Monday 21 December 2020, Day 92 of Level 1, Day 271 of Lockdown 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a sunny day, feeling cooler than 26C due to it being windy from this morning onwards; for getting my writing done in a shorter time than normal; for spreading the dishwashing of yesterday throughout the day; for collecting sandwiches and coldrinks from The Bay Hotel for the Christmas function which was held for the Camps Bay Community Stewards (car guards and my cleaners), borrowing a Pick n Pay trolley to transport them to the SAPS parking area; for trying out the new Crème de la Crème Gourmet Dessert outlet in Camps Bay, which has just opened; for collecting a plaque from Pagliari engravers in town for my client, produced efficiently and just in time before their Festive Season closing tomorrow, and dropping it off; for a spontaneous drop-in at Dinkel Bakery, which still had some poppyseed rolls for me; for both lanes of Geneva Drive having reopened  in Camps Bay; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙

I had to have the sandwiches and beverages donated by The Bay Hotel and Pick n Pay at the Community Steward event by 12h00, which cost me one hour of writing time, but I completed it just in time.

My Blogpost today was about the mutated Corona Virus in the UK which has a 70% faster infection rate, and which is leading to a very tight Lockdown in London and Southeast England, as well as flights in and out of the UK being banned from about 40 countries. We appear to have this mutation in our country too, and four countries have banned flights from our country already, including Germany and Switzerland.

Mutated Corona Virus causes travel havoc in and out of the UK, affecting S A Tourism too!

My Alex is going into self-isolation for 8 days, after his App identified a colleague testing positive. He has worked non-stop for 7 days a week since their Lockdown started in the UK, and has not had 8 days off this year.

Crème de la Crème opened next door to Starbucks in the past few days. What a disappointment, its descriptive name of ‘Gourmet Desserts’ being totally misleading. All they offer is ice cream – four weird flavours, and vanilla or chocolate are not in their repertoire. The cone is half the size of a standard one, and the serving is as well, at R29,90, and a Flake costs R10 extra, a rip-off. Service was non-existent and bordering on rude.  They won’t see me again, not a bad thing otherwise I’d be there every day 😱

Thank you to Brian Van Hansen who sent me the photographs he took at my birthday celebration yesterday. I have another (small) assignment for him for tomorrow 🙏

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, lowered to Level 2 from 18 August, and lowered to Level 1 from 21 September, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
