More UK travel good news as it lifts pre-departure Test requirement!

From 4h00 tomorrow morning the UK will no longer require a pre-departure Test for vaccinated passengers entering its country, as residents or as tourists, Self-isolation has also been scrapped, reports TravelWeekly. 

However, within 48 hours of arrival, travellers have to undergo a Lateral Flow Test, and a PCR Test if they Test positive, so that the variant can be determined,

Scotland and Northern Ireland have not yet announced their regulations.

The new regulations demand that non-fully vaccinated travellers must self-isolate on arrival.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that the Omicron variant is now so widely spread that its current travel measures are not making a significant impact on the country’s case numbers. The current regulations have come at ‘significant costs to our travel industry’, he said,

The regulations to be implemented tomorrow will mean a significant cost saving for Travellers.  The UK Tourism industry has described the new regulations as a lifeline to the tourism sector.

The benefits of the regulation changes will be positive for the South African Tourism industry too.
