*   1Time is likely to start operating again as a low cost airline, having been placed into liquidation last year.

*   The City of Cape Town approved The Control of Undertakings that Sell Liquor to the Public By-law, and should be promulgated in the Provincial Government Gazette next month, and enforcable by February.  The by-law is less strict than its draft, allowing retailers to apply to extended their trading hours and to trade on Sundays.

*   Camps Bay has been named by Yowzit as the Best Beach in South Africa, followed by Ramsgate and Llandudno.

*   The Last Word Franschhoek has closed its doors until April for renovations, after having been badly flooded during the severe downpour last month.

*   Cape Town has been praised by the Islington Review for Camps Bay, Table Mountain, Cape Point, and restaurant prices at half of London prices.  The V&A Waterfront was criticised, except for its cheaper diamonds!

*   Social Media is an important form of marketing to wine purchasers, given the fragmented markets and its better value relative to traditional marketing media, said Mike Ratcliffe of Warwick Wine Estate at the Wine Vision conference in London last month.

*   Cutting the SAA Johannesburg – Buenos Aires route is not only detrimental for tourism from Argentina for South Africa, but also is a blow to Africa.

*   The Advertising Standards Authority has reversed its decision, and Johannesburg may again claim to be a ‘world class African city‘!

*   Western Cape Minister of Tourism Alan Winde, with Wesgro representatives,   was to have taken to the street early this morning to hand out copies of The Next 48 Hours, which showcases what the province has to offer this summer season. (received via media release from Minister Winde’s office).  The event was cancelled in the early hours of the morning.
