For the second year running the World Culinary Awards are being held, celebrating and rewarding excellence. It is a sister event of World Travel Awards.
The 2021 finalists of the World’s Culinary Awards for the African and all other Continents have been announced, an award program which has stretched over the year, culminating in the announcement of the winners on 7 November.
Some of South Africa’s Best restaurants have been nominated, competing against the top Restaurants in Africa. These include Utopia Cape Town, Wolfgat in Paternoster, Chefs Warehouse at Tintswalo Atlantic, Himitsu at Camps Bay Retreat, and Life Grand Café, all from the Western Cape. Continue reading →

Yesterday I published a post that focused on a number of leading South African chefs, in summarising what they are doing to maintain awareness for their restaurants, what they are posting, and how they are getting involved in helping their clients as well as the disadvantaged community. This Blogpost is a continuation of the story, focusing on the remaining restaurants which made the 2019 Eat Out Top 20 List.
In just over twelve months of its launch, Triple Three hand-crafted premium gin made at Blaauwklippen in Stellenbosch has become one of the top three best-selling local gins in our country, and is regarded as a world-class gin. I attended a tasting of the three Triple Three gins at OpenWine on Monday evening, and of their brand new but not yet launched Triple Three Distillers Cut gin last week, at a Blaauwklippen Zinfandel tasting.
