The explosion of restaurant openings in Cape Town and the Winelands in September is flowing into October too. Last month saw the opening of Tiger’s Milk Kloof Street, Marrow, Davy Croquettes, The Yard, Schoon de Companje in its new premises, Pierino Penati at Villa 47, and Firefish, amongst others.

SeaBreeze Fish & Shell, The Sunnyside Grill, and the Crazy Horse Gastropub are three new restaurants which opened in Cape Town during June. Two Hout Bay restaurants have closed down as the Winter chill sets in! Über creative Pastry Chef André Steyn has joined La Colombe.
It is ironic that Shimmy Beach Club introduced its Winter Menu with a media lunch on an almost ‘summery’ day, for the second year running! It was a sociable event, and the food served in taster portions was a step up from previous Winter Menu launch lunches I have attended in the past.
November has seen the opening of new restaurants Spek & Bone by Chef Bertus Basson, Baconville by Richard Bosman, The Vine Bistro at Glenelly, The 41, Sunset Café, Pizza Hut on Kloof Street, Bon Appetit Keam Restaurant, and more.
