The announcement by the City of Cape Town reads as follows:<\/p>\n
\u2018DAM LEVELS ABOVE 60% FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE 2016<\/i><\/p>\n
Dam levels have improved slightly over the last week and have passed the 60% mark for the first time since 2016.<\/i><\/p>\n
For the past week, dam levels increased by 1,3% to 60,1% of storage capacity.<\/i><\/p>\n
The average water consumption for the past week rose from 519 million to 527 million litres per day.<\/i><\/p>\n
The City of Cape Town is encouraged by the milestone that has been reached and thanks its water users for continuing to use as little water as possible in an effort to preserve the water that is in our dams. This remains a priority effort to ensure that we build a buffer against the summer months ahead\u2019.<\/i><\/p>\n
While our City, its residents, and the tourism industry can breath a little more easily with this news, water wastage is an evil of the past. Every Capetonian as well as tourist must continue to minimize water usage. It is encouraging to see how many public bathrooms have water saving notices. <\/p>\n
A weekend of rain lies ahead, and every drop of rain takes Cape Town further away from having to face a Day Zero. ?<\/p>\n
