\"\"It was a shock to wake up to the news that the main restaurant, lounge, and kitchen building caught fire earlier this morning at Tintswalo Atlantic Lodge, the Boutique Hotel beautifully located at the foot of Chapman\u2019s Peak, and looking onto The Sentinel mountain in Hout Bay. It is the second fire at the lodge in four years. This follows the devastating fire on Lion\u2019s Head just over a week ago. <\/p>\n

Tintswalo Lodges PR Consultant Janie van der Spuy of Five Star PR sent me this media\"\" release, with the latest update about the fire at the Lodge, which started at 4h00 this morning: <\/p>\n

TINTSWALO <\/span>ATLANTIC <\/span>FIRE<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

The fire <\/span>in the main lodge area of <\/span>Tintswalo Atlantic<\/span><\/a> has been contained and the guest rooms were not affected. <\/span>All guests and staff were safely evacuated<\/span>.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

At approximately 04:00 on 5 February 2019, the early-alert fire system was activated indicating fire in the <\/span>main <\/span>lodge area<\/span>.<\/span> Staff on duty fought the fire while the emergency services were called. The fire department arrived shortly after and guests and staff were safely evacuated. Guests were relocated to the nearby <\/span>Hout<\/span> Bay Manor Hotel.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

The fire department is still on site and it is not known yet what the extent of the damage <\/span>to the main<\/span> lodge <\/span>is<\/span>,<\/span> but guest rooms were not affected<\/span>. <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

The previous fire at Tintswalo Atlantic<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

On 2 March 2015, a day many Capetonians remember vividly, a massive veld fire devastated huge swathes of natural vegetation, homes, and businesses all over the Cape Peninsula – among them Tintswalo Atlantic Lodge on Chapman\u2019s Peak. The owners did not let this devastating loss dampen their spirits however \u2013 instead, through sheer determination and with the incredible help and support from <\/span>staff, <\/span>neighbours<\/span> and local businesses, they went on to rebuild the lodge within only \"\"eight months, to open in October 2015. The rebuild was an opportunity to breathe new life into the property, creating an even better experience for guests\u2019. <\/span> <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

The cause of the Tintswalo fire appears unknown, and it would not appear as if it was caused by any vegetation fire surrounding the Lodge. I will update this Blogpost as soon as new information is available. Just ten days ago a media group was invited to enjoy cocktails and canap\u00e9s at Tintswalo Atlantic, a lovely event. <\/p>\n
