<\/a>After a crisis meeting on Tuesday, the management of the V & A Waterfront has announced the temporary closure of the Two Oceans Aquarium and the Zeitz MOCAA Museum, as well as the cancellation of all public events at its precinct, in its reaction to the National Disaster announced by President Cyril Ramaphosa on Sunday. Other internal measures to combat the spread of the COVID-19 Virus were announced by the biggest tourist attraction in our country to its tenants yesterday. <\/p>\nV & A Waterfront CEO David Green wrote to tenants to share with them which stringent measures it was taking to contain the spread of the Virus, the President having addressed shopping malls to enhance their hygiene control in his speech on Sunday. As a result, Green announced the first steps taken at the Waterfront:<\/p>\n

Ultimately Green admitted that the \u2018most damaging implications lie in the inevitable economic slowdown<\/i>\u2019. He stated that the \u2018majority\u2019 of its retail operations at its different centre buildings \u2018will continue to trade whilst we monitor the situation and developments on a daily basis\u2019. <\/i>Comforting for its tenants was his message of \u2018supporting the resilience of our tenants who are most exposed at this time\u2019. <\/i>Hence the V & A Waterfront is keeping its offices open to be there in support of its tenants, a special COVID-19 task team having been established. <\/p>\n
As the Waterfront is not just a shopping centre visited by tourists, but is an important shopping mall for Atlantic Seaboard and City Bowl residents, one can only hope that it will remain open. <\/p>\n
