#Grateful for the rain which fell on and off today, lapped up by the vegetable and flower garden, catching me unawares when I did a quick walk to Maison J to get croissants \ud83e\udd50, getting sopping wet but it was worth every drop in gifting Camps Bay with a beautiful rainbow \ud83c\udf08 over Bali Bay; for Stuart Bailey coming to try to help me on his laptop with my Amazon job application; for the walk through the city centre, rediscovering it as a Tourist Guide, barely recognizing it, it being so quiet and so many business doors closed; for a indulgent Hot Chocolate at Honest Chocolate, nice and warm inside on this very cold 14C day; for collecting my tourist Guide card from the Western Cape Dept of Economic Affairs & Tourism on St George\u2019s Mall, hardly recognizable without any stalls, looking like a European city pedestrian lane without any pedestrians \ud83d\ude31; for celebrating the two month battle of becoming officially registered as a Tourist Guide with an excellent lunch at Villa 47; for doing the Discovery Health Check at Clicks Glengariff Road \ud83d\ude31; for the assistance by Johan Prins and Bradley Moore to try to get the Amazon application completed; for getting into my warm bed already; and for being happy and healthy. \ud83d\ude4f\ud83d\udc99<\/p>\n
The croissant \ud83e\udd50 purchase was a small way to thank Stuart for coming to my home with his laptop so that we could check if the Amazon application would work on his laptop. The problem was even bigger, as it would not accept us using Stuart\u2019s email
\naddress. \ud83d\ude31<\/p>\n
Stuart advised that I go to the Amazon offices at Wembley Square, but all staff are working virtually, only a receptionist and security staff being in their offices. I did get a Help Line number from them.<\/p>\n
I parked in Bo-Kaap, and walked down Wale Street. There were hardly any cars on the road, parking was ample, and nothing in Bo-Kaap that I walked past was open, except the Cafes. The Hilton is no more, its signage removed. I walked past the Vicious Virgin Bar, a recent Covid casualty. The hot chocolate at Honest Chocolate was lovely and warming, but the \u2018service\u2019 disinterested, with barely a word from the staff, most customers being there to use the wifi. No Corona protocols other than staff wearing a mask.<\/p>\n
The receptionist at the Dept of Economic Affairs and Tourism could not believe that I was so ![\"\"](\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.chrisvonulmenstein.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/88D18087-D666-42BB-AB26-FA7D32751337.jpeg?resize=300%2C300&ssl=1\")
excited to receive my Tourist Guide card. We have to have it with us all the time, and wear the badge, the next step of being official, as there are enforcement officers checking if Tourist Guides are legally registered at populate tourist spots. For Covid procedure I had to use my own pen to sign their form. \ud83d\udc99<\/p>\n
I headed to Villa 47, and was happy to see how it filled up. They offer a winter special, R245 for two courses and R315 for three. Outstanding value for money. Despite the Executive Chef Clayton having left recently, the presentation was as I remember it. I was reminded that I hadn\u2019t been there in two years, as its GM Peter emigrated to the UK two years ago. I ordered a Caprese salad and delicious Rosemary Lamb Rack…. mmmmm \u2764\ufe0f. The waiters were not proactive, but Ros the Front of House Manager was checking up regularly, greeting new customers, and even co-owner Michele Mirotto was in the restaurant, coming to say hello. All Corona protocols observed.<\/p>\n
I clearly wasn\u2019t thinking, being so Amazon-stressed, in booking the Discovery Health Check straight after lunch. Only my HIV test and blood sugar levels were good, my blood pressure and cholesterol levels being just outside the Discovery norm. A lesson learnt, and definitely something to do first thing in the morning next year, as I only gained 6000 points out of a potential 25000 for the Health Check. \ud83e\udd75. But now I\u2019ve reached Silver status, having been in Bronze forever, it feels like.<\/p>\n
I did so much walking in town today that I needed little extra dancing to reach my step goal.<\/p>\n
I didn\u2019t write a Blogpost today, due to the Amazon application pressure, but I\u2019m nowhere any nearer to solving the application hiccup.<\/p>\n

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, and lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.<\/b><\/p>\n
