It was wonderful to walk with a short sleeve top and shorts so early in the morning already, being warm enough.<\/p>\n<p>I wrote a Blogpost about the new \u2018Passion for Pairing\u2019 Book by Sommelier Jean-Vincent Ridon, with a range of about 100 dishes paired with 100 different beverages, mainly wines.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"AUBhzMX3JI\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.chrisvonulmenstein.com\/blog\/cape-town\/a-toast-to-passion-for-pairing-first-book-pairing-food-and-beverages-by-sommelier-and-winemaker-jean-vincent-ridon\/\">A Toast to \u2018Passion for Pairing\u2019, first book pairing food and beverages by Sommelier and Winemaker Jean-Vincent Ridon!<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);\" title=\"&#8220;A Toast to \u2018Passion for Pairing\u2019, first book pairing food and beverages by Sommelier and Winemaker Jean-Vincent Ridon!&#8221; &#8212; Whale Tales Blog\" src=\"https:\/\/www.chrisvonulmenstein.com\/blog\/cape-town\/a-toast-to-passion-for-pairing-first-book-pairing-food-and-beverages-by-sommelier-and-winemaker-jean-vincent-ridon\/embed\/#?secret=AUBhzMX3JI\" data-secret=\"AUBhzMX3JI\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>I fetched Jenny and we headed to Blouberg to meet Prim, gifting her a bottle of ADHARA EVOO olive oil, in recognition of being a top Women Restaurateur. She has recently moved to smaller premises across the road from where she operated previously. She spoilt us with a range of Indian dishes to try, made in her Tandoor oven, including coconut and cashew Naan, butter chicken, lamb masala, and chicken and fish tikka.<\/p>\n<p>Our drive along the West Coast took us along the ocean, with patches of mist, until we reached \ufffcDarling. We found Evita se Perron, the restaurant now run by the owners of Darling Sweets. Generally the property looked a bit neglected. No one was interested in us at Darling Brewery, where one can eat and taste their extensive range of craft beers. We had tea at The Marmalade Cat, the owner telling us that they are run off their feet, being so busy in the last three months of Lockdown.<\/p>\n<p>Waylands Guest House is in a building built in 1892. It has five en-suite bedrooms. The owner is Jeanette Duckitt, who went to school in Wellington with Jenny and I. Tomorrow more classmates are joining us for lunch. Dinner was a lovely Braai. We would have had our 50-year Matric Reunion this month, but it had to be postponed to next year due to Covid.
