Corona Gratitude \ud83d\ude4f<\/u><\/p>\n
#Grateful for surviving the gale-force Black South Easter, my only loss being Maya\u2019s sarong, and one of our electric fence panels blowing away; for getting Henry\u2019s help in finding a plastic bucket and basket which blew down the steps, and for fixing some small wind-related issues; for an eventful walk through Camps Bay to see the wind damage at the Beachfront and to report things to fix to Councillor Nicola Jowell\u2019s office; for a quick tea and croissant at Firefly Caf\u00e9, protected from the wind there; for a productive trip into town and Sea Point, surprised at how busy the traffic in town was, compared to past trips during Lockdown; for how clean Bo-Kaap looked when I drove through it; for how love rules, despite Covid and the storm, when I chatted to a bridal couple on my walk \u2764\ufe0f; and for being happy and healthy. \ud83d\ude4f\ud83d\udc99<\/p>\n
My Sweet Service Award went to the City of Cape Town for fixing the water leak\u00a0on Victoria Road within two days of it being reported. The Sour Service Award went to our Government for its handling of the International Tourism Media conference and announcements on Wednesday, only a few hours before the international borders reopened.<\/p>\n
Camps Bay residents who grew up in Camps Bay over 60 years ago estimate that the tree outside Mynt Caf\u00e9 was over 100 years old. They are very emotional about its demise. \ud83d\ude31 The wind has calmed down. A fabulous sunny weekend lies ahead \ud83d\udc99<\/p>\n
I fetched my bedlinen from the laundry, and used a new salon Skin Studio today, Stefanie being gentle and kind. \ud83d\ude4f<\/p>\n
Shopping at Woolworths Piazza St John was frustrating, with no staff on the floor to help me find chicken liver p\u00e2t\u00e9. A kind lady in the Chicken Department helped me find some, and complained about this being a continuous problem in the store! It was such a surprise to be greeted by name by the cashier, as I used to be a regular in that store.<\/p>\n
So happy that the Camps Bay AirBnB case went to court today, and that the judge found in favour of the owners.<\/p>\n

We are pleased that the rule of law and property rights have been upheld. The actions of the weseeyou collective to illegally hijack a home have caused incalculable damage, pain, and suffering. Much-needed confidence in the market has been lost, livelihoods have been placed at risk, and there has been a loss of income. This at a time when we and many others in the tourism industry are desperately trying to recover from the financial devastation of Covid-19.\u2019<\/p>\n

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, lowered to Level 2 from 18 August, and lowered to Level 1 from 21 September, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.<\/p>\n
