Corona Gratitude \ud83d\ude4f<\/u><\/p>\n
#Grateful for a busy day; for the wind not blowing as strongly as it can, despite blowing all day; for a successful community beach clean in Camps Bay despite the wind; for being served a fabulous Dilmah Earl Grey tea at the lawn across the road from The 41, where I sat to sign in our resident beach cleaners, the numbers arriving affected by the wind sadly; for rescuing a Pick n Pay trolley, the Manager telling me that they cost R1000 each, and that the store is charged for each trolley that goes missing when vendors steal them to transport beach umbrellas and cushions, which made me understand why the manager is so good to me, given the number of trolleys I have returned to the store; for my Camps Bay CSI cleaning team joining me in the beach clean, getting to know them a little better; for a visit to the Old Biscuit Mill #2, looking very different, and seeing Chef Sebastian Hendricks of the Cheesecake Checkout, and Elize Goffe-Wood of Kitchen Cowboys; for a three hour catch up with Amanda Fourie and Amanda Odendaal whom I met three years ago when we sat a row apart at a show at The Baxter, having a very honest conversation about our finances, and about losing the Covid calories, something one does not usually discuss with others; for a lovely pop-in at Utopia, George Sax saxing it \ud83c\udfb7 to a full buzzing restaurant, with another engagement this evening, a group of 35 celebrating with a special dinner, in addition to the other diners; for the loveliest Blokparty music on Kfm this evening; for receiving my first Discovery Vitality points since reaching Diamond status, for my healthy Pick n Pay shopping; and for being happy and healthy. \ud83d\ude4f\ud83d\udc99<\/p>\n
The 41 is our partner in the monthly Community Beach Clean ups, offering each participant a coffee\/tea, and a chance to win a burger and drink for two for collecting the most litter. Laura Paarman and Liam won the prize for the second month running. We had tea and coffee together afterwards, with our new cleaning team too. After the residents had left, I asked each of the three cleaners about themselves, and one of them shared that he got married two months ago, believing that this cleaning job will be a stepping stone to greater things. The sweetest thing was their gratitude to sit in the Camps Bay restaurant with me, a first for them.<\/p>\n
I have not been to the Old Biscuit Mill in ages, so had not yet seen how they have opened it up into one total space. At 14h00 it was not busy at all. I bought the KitKat mini cheesecake at the Cheesecake Checkout in honour of my KitKat cat. Chef Sebastian is now taking about the possibility of opening a shop! It can\u2019t be more than three months ago that he came to see me to discuss his product with me \ud83d\udc4f\ud83d\udc4f\ud83d\udc4f. Elize Goffe-Wood talked about how difficult the past few months have been, but is grateful that the Old Biscuit Mill is opening on Sundays too from next week. I met Chef Lauden Kirk of the Bunga Bunga stand, also in my Lockdown Restaurant Facebook Group, not having met before. He told me that he is the longest-standing trader at the Old Biscuit Mill. I was surprised that Burrata restaurant is no more, and that Purveyors Steakhouse and Pizzeria has opened in its place. The interior looks exactly the same as before.<\/p>\n
We had lovely alcohol-free Daquiris at Villa 47, and just talked and talked. The two Amandas have been friends for years. I have seen one of the two more often after we first met, but certainly not this year. We have so much in common as singles and mothers, and learnt so much from each other. #Dankie<\/p>\n
Stuart Bailey has almost finished his second new restaurant De Vleispaleis, in Stellenbosch, a very quick completion, and sent me photographs of the beautiful interior.<\/p>\n

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, lowered to Level 2 from 18 August, and lowered to Level 1 from 21 September, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.<\/p>\n
