#Grateful for sleep last night, even though it was in bits and pieces due to renters in our block partying until early in the morning; for a fabulous 26C summer day in winter, with an odd North wind blowing; for getting all my work done before Jenny Stephens arrived for a walk and a tea and croissant at The 41, everyone else having sold out of croissants in Camps Bay, a lovely catch up in the sun; for chatting to a young student about World Ocean Day, celebrated on Tuesday, allowing me to add a message on her banner; for a short catch up sleep before heading back to Camps Bay to do a litter clean up at the Tidal Pool with Benn and Troy McWilliam, my faithful helpers, being pleasantly surprised about how little litter there was today; for seeing \u2018This is Plastiglomerate\u2019, depicting a new type of \u2018rock\u2019, made by artist Francois Knoetze on Camps Bay Beach; and for being happy, healthy, and free. \ud83d\ude4f\ud83d\udc99<\/p>\n
The next door renters got so out of hand in their drunkenness last night that I had to call the police, with blatant lying to them by saying that they can make a noise as I too am a \u2018renter\u2019 in the building, and that it was a racist action on my part to call the police. I\u2019ve never met them before, and in any case we have a house rule of peace and quiet from 22h00. The night before there was a similar problem. I wrote the owner of EbbTide apartment 101 Rhode Snyman a number of emails of complaint, and I have not heard one word of apology or reply from \u2018him\u2019 !!!!!\ud83d\ude21\ud83d\ude21\ud83d\ude21\ud83d\ude21 It\u2019s only about the money.<\/p>\n
\u2018Plastiglomerate\u2019 is a word I\u2019ve never heard before, and I had to Google it:<\/p>\n
\u2018Plastiglomerate is formed when plastic melts and mixes with beach sediment, debris, and pieces of basalt lava fragments. The new rock could last a long time, perhaps hundreds of thousands of years or longer, especially if it is hidden from the destructive rays of the sun, deep in the dirt or ocean. Nearly half of the plastic that could be identified in plastiglomerates was “confetti,” or tiny bits of broken, decomposing plastic. Nearly a quarter came from broken lid containers. Fishing related debris was found in 20 percent of the samples.\u2019<\/p>\n

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, lowered to Level 2 from 18 August, lowered to Level 1 from 21 September, and moved back to Adjusted Level 3 from 29 December, \u00a0extended to 15 February on 11 January, extended but relaxed on 1 February, and relaxed back to Level 1 on 1 March 2021, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.<\/p>\n
