He opened Bistro Vin De Boeuf there this week. <b>The Irish Sun<\/b> reported the news, with stern warnings from myself, Jacqui Biess, owner of Charly\u2019s Bakery, and the owner of the former Breda Street restaurant building. \u00a0On his website Gallagher has <a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.chrisvonulmenstein.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/8BEDCB17-A1BC-43D6-9CB8-52A1138C4ECA.jpeg?ssl=1\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-213910\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.chrisvonulmenstein.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/8BEDCB17-A1BC-43D6-9CB8-52A1138C4ECA.jpeg?resize=220%2C220&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"220\" height=\"220\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.chrisvonulmenstein.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/8BEDCB17-A1BC-43D6-9CB8-52A1138C4ECA.jpeg?w=220&amp;ssl=1 220w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.chrisvonulmenstein.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/8BEDCB17-A1BC-43D6-9CB8-52A1138C4ECA.jpeg?resize=150%2C150&amp;ssl=1 150w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.chrisvonulmenstein.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/8BEDCB17-A1BC-43D6-9CB8-52A1138C4ECA.jpeg?resize=200%2C200&amp;ssl=1 200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 220px) 100vw, 220px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a>announced the opening of Peacock Alley, his second restaurant in St Francis Bay, in December 2022, a most unusual advance notification. \u00a0Gallagher also is an international restaurant consultant, runs a Chef Training school in Johannesburg, while his wife runs a restaurant recruitment agency. \u00a0Misleadingly he refers to himself as a Michelin Star chef &#8211; South Africa does not have the Michelin star restaurant rating system, and Michelin stars are awarded to Restaurants and not to chefs! \u00a0I know of only one current supplier to Gallagher, on a strict upfront payment basis.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>The Irish Sun<\/b> article follows below:<\/p>\n<p>\u2018<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">DEBT-dodger Conrad Gallagher opened his new restaurant amid dire warnings that he will rip people off again.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Businesses left out of pocket by the runaway chef have issued a stark warning about the <a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.ie\/news\/irish-news\/7712786\/donegal-chef-conrad-gallagher-south-africa-new-eateries\/\">latest comeback<\/a>, declaring: \u201cDo not supply him ever.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">The Irish Sun revealed how the notorious celebrity carver has recently launched <a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.ie\/news\/7727848\/donegal-conrad-gallagher-south-africa\/\">two new businesses<\/a> in South Africa after cooking up a trail of destruction across three continents.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Disgraced Gallagher has moved around the US, Ireland and South Africa, leaving a string of unpaid suppliers in his wake.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"advert-wrapper advert-wrapper--outstream\">\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">The brass-necked international chef has now pitched-up again in the Rainbow Nation. Gallagher\u2019s new eatery, Bistro Vin De Boeuf, in St Francis Bay, Eastern Cape, opened for business on Thursday night.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">CLOUD OF DEBT<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">The launch of the meat and wine bistro comes after the 50-year-old recently opened Off the Menu Food Emporium, also in St Francis Bay.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">The Co Donegal native has switched to the holiday village\u00a0 after previously shafting suppliers, landlords and staff in Port Elizabeth and Cape Town.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">But hard-hit suppliers fear Gallagher will leave more victims \u201chigh and dry\u201d \u2014 with his previous South African stints ending under a cloud of debt.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Speaking to the Irish Sun, South African baker and entrepreneur Jacqui Biess told how Gallagher left her with a trail of unpaid bills in his time in Cape Town.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Ms Biess \u2014 who has previously made cakes for Archbishop Desmond Tutu, former South African president Thabo Mbeki, TV legend Oprah Winfrey and Prince Harry and Meghan Markle \u2014 told us last night: \u201cI\u2019m horrified that Conrad Gallagher is opening a business to rip off innocent South Africans yet again.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">\u201cA leopard does not change its spots.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">\u201cHe left so many people out of pocket, with unpaid bills. And of course he will do it again, it is Conrad Gallagher.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">SUPPLIERS OUT OF POCKET<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Gallagher is back in business in South Africa after being declared bankrupt there in 2009.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">The failed fryer\u00a0 was previously\u00a0 evicted from a pricey restaurant in Port Elizabeth called Gallagher\u2019s on Stanley. He was accused of non-payment by several suppliers and was subsequently served an eviction order from the landlord.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">The businessman had already left a string of unpaid suppliers out of pocket when he moved to Port Elizabeth from Cape Town.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">The landlord at his former Cape Town restaurant, Cafe Chic, where he allegedly failed to fulfil an 18-month lease agreement, told how she was owed \u20ac33,000 in rent and was forced to take legal action against it.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><b>FALLING BEHIND ON PAYMENTS<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Quickvest 512 director Francoise Queyroix, owner of the Cafe Chic property, said Gallagher had started falling behind on payments after a year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Ms Biess also suffered non-payment when she supplied Gallagher through her business, Charly\u2019s Bakery, and she\u00a0 last night revealed the methods that Gallagher used to sting her.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">She told the Irish Sun: \u201cI was pretty shocked by the way he behaved.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">\u201cI was one of the lucky businesses that caught onto his trick. And the way he was doing it with us, was at that stage back then he was buying cakes from us for his coffee shop.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">\u201cAnd he used to send us a proof of payment from a bank, and normally when you send a proof of payment it cannot be withdrawn with 99 per cent of banks.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">&#8216;HE JUST DISAPPEARED&#8217;<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">\u201cBut at that stage, the bank he was using, you could send the proof of payment to someone and then you could cancel it. We didn\u2019t even realise he wasn\u2019t paying us, because we were seeing the proof of payment. And when I did notice it, I stopped giving him any cakes until I got everything in cash.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">\u201cI refused to supply him without a cash payment thereafter.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">\u201cI was one of the lucky ones to get some money back. Unfortunately, some suppliers, he literally almost put out of business. Because when he ducks, he ducks and he just disappeared. There were lots of people who were owed lots of money for rent, for supplies of food, and staff, waiters were left high and dry.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">\u201cSince then as a result of Conrad Gallagher, we have changed the entire way we run the payments for our business, because of the way he caught us.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">NEW BUSINESS<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Cocky Gallagher has this week boasted of his new opening in the seaside location of St Francis Bay, insisting Bistro Vin De Boeuf will provide foodies with \u201ca new dining experience for you to enjoy\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">But while the chancer failed to mention his debt-dodging past amid a social media push for business, concerned punters were quick to roast Gallagher.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">One message on the restaurant\u2019s Facebook page said: \u201cHope Conrad pays his suppliers on time and doesn\u2019t have to leave dodge in a hurry. Memories of Stanley Street still abound!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">As Gallagher embarked on his first service at Bistro Vin De Boeuf, Ms Biess told how she was left stunned by shamed Conrad\u2019s comeback after learning about it through the Irish Sun.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">&#8216;BRAZEN&#8217;<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Jacqui \u2014 known in her homeland for starring in the TV show Charly\u2019s Cake Angels which is set in her Cape Town bakery \u2014 said: \u201cI don\u2019t know how he has, do you know the Yiddish word, chutzpah.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">\u201cI don\u2019t know how he has the chutzpah to keep coming back to South Africa and trying his tricks yet again. He is so brazen.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">\u201cHe has ruined so many businesses and right now, with Covid, it is even worse. Thank God we\u2019re surviving.\u00a0\u201cUnfortunately our government can\u2019t afford to look after businesses who are struggling because of Covid in the way the UK and Irish Governments can. But we are surviving, which we are very grateful for.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">&#8216;BE WARY&#8217;<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">\u201cI would urge people to be wary of Conrad Gallagher. No business could afford his tricks with the financial pressures of Covid.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">\u201cI didn\u2019t know he was back in business in South Africa until the Irish Sun informed me. He sneaks in quite quietly. He lived very well when he was here last time, fancy cars and lifestyle.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">\u201cAnd I must say he is not dreadful at food, it wouldn\u2019t be the case that you would go to his place and it would be dreadful food or anything. But he is just dishonest, evidently.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Gallagher says he has stocked up Bistro Vin De Boeuf in St Francis Bay with \u201cthe finest\u201d food and wine for this week\u2019s opening. But Ms Biess issued a message to firms considering supplying the infamous chef.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">&#8216;DO NOT SUPPLY HIM EVER&#8217;<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">She declared: \u201cMy warning is do not supply him ever.
