#grateful for a lovely day, with great weather at 23C and good energy; for Loadshedding from 8h00 this morning turning my day upside down, but what fun to meet the irreverent Lin Sampson at Firefly Caf\u00e9 for an interview for Daily Maverick Food, and being able to get tea using gas-cooked boiled water; for a quick catch up hello with Charlene Shapiro who drove past; for getting my client work for today completed without panic, for Henry doing a fabulous job in obtaining or chasing quotes for maintenance\/repair jobs at our Ebbtide apartments, a list of ten which I compiled yesterday as a type of Status Report, to assist our lovely Portfolio Manager Vanessa, as there are only 5 weeks left before factories and suppliers close for the Festive Season ; for fetching my poppyseed rolls at Dinkel; for finding great diaries at Oxford Stationers in the Garden Centre, wished I\u2019d bought mine there; for a German cold meat shop at Hartlief, yet still arriving early for my Status meeting at Utopia, so great to hear that most December dinners are fully booked already; for a Labotessa spoil with Appeltaart, such wonderful peace there; for a quick Veg shop at Fideli\u2019s; for an exciting New Years Eve invite #tack; for Loadshedding coming to an end early tomorrow morning after a bad week\ud83d\ude4f; for Gary Peterson writing a lovely post about his birthday dinner with his friend Barry Goodman at Zest last night; and for being happy, healthy and free. \ud83d\ude4f\ud83d\udc99<\/p>\n
Former President FW de Klerk passed away today. What an impact he had on our country. We lived in the same street when I lived in Fresnaye.<\/p>\n
Firefly Caf\u00e9 recently changed ownership, the lovely \ufffcco-founder Herman Bezuidenhout no longer being involved, so I hadn\u2019t been back since then. As Lin wanted to swim at the Tidal Pool I suggested that we meet at Firefly during Loadshedding. It was a disaster: at first we sat on the pavement, but numerous noisy trucks drove past, so we moved inside. We wanted a croissant with our tea, but we had to make do with those of yesterday. The Manager was not working today. The Chef was the manager in charge but he never left the open kitchen. We saw a barista dressed as if he was going to the Beach! The staff was noisy! And all we were trying to do was to record the interview! We did negotiate some grated cheese to compensate for the less than fresh croissants. The strawberry jam looked like a light coloured liquid ketchup! If I\u2019m critical, Lin is even more so! I\u2019m not sure what she will write after this entertaining experience \ud83d\ude31\ud83d\ude31\ud83d\ude31\ud83d\ude31<\/p>\n

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March 2020 and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, lowered to Level 2 from 18 August, lowered to Level 1 from 21 September, and moved back to Adjusted Level 3 from 29 December, \u00a0extended to 15 February on 11 January 2021, extended but relaxed on 1 February, and relaxed back to Level 1 on 1 March 2021, moved back to Adjusted Level 2 on 31 May, moved back to level 3 on 16 June, and moved back to Adjusted Level 4 on 28 June, extended by two weeks on 11 July, \u00a0returned to Level 3 on 26 July, returned to Level 2 on 13 September, and returned to Level 1 on 1 October is an unprecedented event in my lifetime.
