Corona Lockdown Gratitude \ud83d\ude4f<\/u><\/p>\n
#grateful for a day that started off slowly and increased in energy level, catching up on work and posting for my clients; for some Vit D therapy on my terrace; for a long catch-up call from Chef Richard Carstens, not having seen or spoken in at least 2 years, with a promise to visit him in Franschhoek soon \ud83d\udc99; for meeting Gary Peterson in town, arriving early for the Baroque Christmas concert in the Evangelical Lutheran Church on Strand Street, the oldest church in Cape Town and SA, completed in 1780, 231 years old, which has plush new red velvet cushions, having had the most uncomfortable benches in the past, with lovely music, feeling very grown up in that it was my first classical music concert I attended in 2 years; we grabbed seats in the second row, and were so early that we went to Villa 47 around the corner, sharing steak tartare and octopus starters, with yummy breads and crisps, and good service from Thalita \ud83d\udc99; for popping in at Tania Olivier and her Red Party, she looking like the angel of her Christmas tree, spoiling us with the most delicious chocolate and cherry Pavlova, and fabulous LOUD MUSIC to which Tania and I danced, it feeling so goooood \ud83d\udc83\ud83d\udc83; For lovely music on Kfm; for getting home safely; and for being happy, healthy and free. \ud83d\ude4f\ud83d\udc99<\/p>\n
I felt so sorry for the Symphony Choir of Cape Town, singing with their masks on throughout the concert. \ud83d\ude37\ud83d\ude31 Lovely Soprano. The church was less than half full, with distanced seating, only 3 persons per pew. Despite being called \u2018A Baroque Christmas\u2019, there was no Christmas music. The concert included Monteverdi’s Cantate Domino, Vivaldi Magnifcat RV610, Vivaldi\u2019s Gloria in D RV 589, and the Bach \u00c4rgere dich, O Seele, nicht BWV186.<\/p>\n
The new Conductor of the Choir is Levi Alexander, heading up the Music Department at SACS. Soloists were Soprano: Elsabe Richter, Alto: Vasti Zeeman-Knoesen, Tenor: Arthur Swan, Bass: Keaton Manwaring<\/p>\n
I had to Google the symbolism of the Swans inside the church and at its entrance. They are associated with Martin Luther, a Lutheran Church in Den Haag having them too.<\/p>\n
