Corona Lockdown Gratitude \ud83d\ude4f<\/u><\/p>\n
#grateful for a smooth flowing day; for a good breakfast at Botlierskop, with a beautiful yellow free range egg cheese omelet; for a careful drive to Knysna, with so many speed cameras and traps; for checking in at Turbine Hotel on Thesen Hotel, but our rooms taking another two hours to become available, so we went on a little walk on the island, the shops not much different to what I remember from a last visit at least 5 years ago; for bumping into Markus F\u00e4rbinger, former owner of Ile de Pain, the best known bakery in Knysna, located on Thesen Island, ordering an iced coffee and buying a chocolate tart there ; for doing some client work; for a walk with five elephants at the Knysna Elephant Park close to Plett, my clients feeding them chunks of fresh fruit, the walk in over 30C heat at 16h30; for a most interesting dinner at Flo&Co across the road from our hotel \ud83d\ude31; for being grateful that we are in Knysna and missed the six hour power failure in Cape Town \ud83d\ude31; for being able to change my bedroom, to one with better WiFi; and for being happy, healthy and free. \ud83d\ude4f\ud83d\udc99<\/p>\n
While my client liked being able to touch and feed the elephants, they felt ripped off having to pay R1800 for the two of them for the elephant feeding and walk for just less than an hour, paying the SanParks International rate. I didn\u2019t have to pay, as the Tourist Guide. It seemed terribly commercialized, a photographer accompanying us, taking 100 plus photographs, and they then trying to sell them to us at more than R200. The bucket of fresh fruit for feeding the elephants cost R45 extra. We had to exit via the gift shop and Restaurant, and they tried to sell us something to drink the minute we stepped inside! And there is a massive tip box!<\/p>\n
Flo & Co Restaurant was recommended by our hotel, very close by. I took some good sunset pics there. Our waitress Nikita was great. Everything else was terrible: my beer-battered hake was crumbed and not hake! My replacement grilled hake was not hake! The Tiramisu I ordered had not set! The last portion of Pavlova had just been sold! The Cr\u00e8me Br\u00fbl\u00e9e was disappointing. The Italian owner Sylvana sounded like Chef Giorgio Nava, telling us she had beer battered the hake herself, our waitress telling us that she does not cook in the restaurant kitchen! She used the boring line of \u2018everyone but you loves my Cr\u00e8me Br\u00fbl\u00e9e\u2019! Worst of all, is that the waitress ran after my client demanding payment for the dessert, having forgotten to charge for it! \ud83d\ude21\ud83d\ude21\ud83d\ude21\ud83d\ude21\ud83d\ude21\ud83d\ude21\ud83d\ude21\ud83d\ude21<\/p>\n
