In the last minute the contestants had to add honeycomb to their dish, made from the honey. Shawn made a savoury sweet crumpet fish dish. Luyanda made a seafood trout bisque. Tasnim worked with Bokkoms, making a Mousse. Didi added leeks to her dish. Tasnim had to leave the MasterChef kitchen. \u00a0She thanked the MasterChef \u00a0SA team for making it such a Halaal-friendly kitchen.\u00a0Judge Chef Gregory Czarnecki advised that honey is a good emulsifier, enabling one to make one\u2019s mayonnaise with it, without using eggs or mustard.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>#. \u00a0<u>Episode 10:<\/u> \u00a0This was an important challenge, in that the tenth contestant was eliminated in it, <img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-215893\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.chrisvonulmenstein.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/54D3A0D7-D3E5-41E9-BAB3-BC98288E8D87.jpeg?resize=184%2C274&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"184\" height=\"274\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.chrisvonulmenstein.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/54D3A0D7-D3E5-41E9-BAB3-BC98288E8D87.jpeg?w=184&amp;ssl=1 184w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.chrisvonulmenstein.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/54D3A0D7-D3E5-41E9-BAB3-BC98288E8D87.jpeg?resize=134%2C200&amp;ssl=1 134w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 184px) 100vw, 184px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/>leaving the MasterChef SA Top 10 in the kitchen. Abalone was the delicacy that had to be prepared by the contestants. Chef Callan Austin from Chefs Warehouse Tintswalo Atlantic mentioned Chef Darren Badenhorst of Le Coin Fran\u00e7ais in Franschhoek as his mentor, and introduced this expensive sustainable South African Abalone seafood. Each of the contestants were given a Masterclass, with a taste of it, were shown how to clean it, how to take the flesh out of the shell, trimming the excess off, and how to cut it in thin slices. Sims made an Abalone Ceviche. Didi, Shawn, and Dr Harri were called to step forward. His dish was described by contestants as elegant, containing thyme and oregano, and exciting. Sims was the Blue team leader, and Tarryn the Red team leader. Instructions had to be given to the next team member at each relay change in only one minute. The only criticism was that the skin of the tomatoes had not been removed in the dessert.\u00a0The Blue Team\u2019s main course was praised for its presentation and flavour. The dessert was not praised, being too sweet\u00a0and grainy.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>#. <u>Episode 12:<\/u> Baking was the focus of this episode, Marie-Louise Guy and her brother Callie Maritz walking in with cake masterpieces. Only at the end of the challenge did the contestants see the cake prepared by Mari-Louise, true blind baking. She described it as home-baking with beautiful finishes. Individualism in cake baking and decoration was encouraged. Luyanda said that if one can read, one can bake. There were a number of decorating disasters. Onti and Tembisa had to step forward.
