\"\"<\/a>There have been a number of restaurant openings, and no restaurant closures have been reported this year to date, a good sign of recovery. \u00a0A very strong tourism February as well as many weddings and general Valentine’s celebrations mean business is booming for restaurants. This list of restaurant openings and closings is\u00a0updated continuously,<\/strong> as we receive new information:<\/p>\n

Restaurant Openings<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

* \u00a0 <\/strong>The <\/strong>Pot Luck Club<\/strong> has\u00a0re-opened in its new venue at the top of the Old Biscuit Mill.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Caf\u00e9\u00a0Blanc de Noir<\/strong><\/a><\/strong> has opened on Brenaissance wine estate in Stellenbosch<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>Latitude33<\/strong><\/a> has opened on Bree Street<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Baked Bistro<\/strong><\/a><\/strong> has opened in Bakoven, where Marika\u2019s and Saboroso used to be<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Orphanage Cocktail Emporium<\/strong> has expanded into an adjoining property, opening on Orphan Street, creating <\/strong>The Dining Room<\/a><\/strong> downstairs. \u00a0It is opening\u00a0Orphanage Club<\/strong> upstairs, with 1920\u2019s style music by live performers, later this year.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 <\/strong>Antipasto Bar<\/a><\/strong> has opened at the new Anthonij Rupert Wines tasting room, where Graham Beck used to be, outside Franschhoek<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Kloof Street House<\/a><\/strong> has opened where Opal Lounge used to be.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Honest Chocolate<\/strong> has opened a second outlet, with a\u00a0\u2018production kitchen<\/em>\u2019, in the Woodstock Industrial Centre<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Cavalli<\/strong> <\/strong>restaurant is said to open on the stud farm on R44, between Stellenbosch and Somerset West, this year or next<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Camphors at <\/strong>Vergelegen<\/strong><\/a> has opened, with Chef\u00a0PJ Vadas.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Cousins<\/strong> has opened in the Parliament Hotel, where Il Cappero used to be.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Thai Caf\u00e9<\/strong> has opened on Plein Street, Stellenbosch<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0It\u2019s a House<\/strong> has opened on Jarvis Street, as a bar, coffee shop, and design art space.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Lion\u2019s Head Bar<\/strong> opened on Bree Street, selling craft beer and food<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Shake your Honey Mumbai <\/strong>is to open in the original Madame Zingara<\/strong> building on Loop Street, in August.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Chef Nic van Wyk, previously with Terroir, has opened\u00a0The Eatery at<\/strong> <\/strong>Diemersdal <\/strong>in Durbanville.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 <\/strong>Jimmy Jimanos<\/strong> sports bar is opening on Long Street<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Burger King<\/strong> will open its first South African branch in Cape Town later this year!<\/p>\n

* \u00a0A coffee shop, chocolaterie, bar, and fashion boutique will open in a 3-storey building on Long Street, as yet unnamed.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Wilderer Distillery and\u00a0La Grapperia<\/strong> at Spice Route restaurant have opened at Spice Route wine estate, in addition to their existing location<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 TriBakery<\/strong> has opened near Moyo in the V&A Waterfront<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Luke Dale Roberts<\/strong> appears to be continuing his expansion trail, and is said to be opening on Long Street.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Mischu: The Coffee Showroom<\/strong> has opened on Regent Road in in Sea Point.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Deluxe <\/strong>U<\/strong>rban Caf\u00e9 <\/strong>has opened in the old Cape Quarter.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Gourmet Cakes <\/strong>has opened on Kloof Street<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 A new restaurant and micro brewery is to open next door to The Bromwell in Woodstock (name not yet known).<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Le Venue<\/strong> has opened at The House of JC le Roux<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 The\u00a0Harbour House<\/strong> group is opening a new restaurant at 107 Loop Street.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Goloso Pizzeria<\/strong> <\/strong>has opened in Regent Road Sea Point.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Fr\u00e8res Bistro<\/strong> has opened next door to Col’Cacchio on Hans Strydom Avenue in the city centre.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0De Dorf Krug<\/strong> has opened in Hermanus as a Bavarian\/Austrian restaurant.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 La Parada<\/strong> has opened in Kalk Bay.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 The Crypt at St George’s Cathedral <\/strong>has opened as a jazz restaurant.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Cheyne’s<\/strong> has opened in Hout Bay.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Chef Reuben Riffel is to open an artisanal beer bar.<\/p>\n

Restaurant Closures<\/span><\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Wale Rose Lifestyle<\/strong> has closed down in Bo-Kaap.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Caf\u00e9 Sofia <\/strong>in Camps Bay has closed down. \u00a0None of the other branches are answering their phones, so they may have closed down too.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Rhapsody’s<\/strong> in Green Point has closed down.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Cape Town Fish Market<\/strong> has closed down in Somerset West<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Caf\u00e9 Le Chocolatier<\/strong> has closed down in Franschhoek. \u00a0The owner has taken over Apprentice in Stellenbosch.<\/p>\n

* Pepperclub on the Beach<\/strong> has closed down in Camps Bay, to make way for a luxury boutique hotel.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Eastern Palace<\/strong> has closed down.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Urban Garden<\/strong> has closed down<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 The Reserve<\/strong> nightclub and Brasserie have closed down.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 St Yves<\/strong> in Camps Bay is closing down on 4 May, to make way for the new Boutique Hotel in The Promenade.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Bar1<\/strong> in Camps Bay, which was planned as a summer ‘pop-up’ bar and restaurant, has closed down.<\/p>\n

Restaurant staff\/venue changes<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Fyndraai Restaurant<\/strong><\/a> will move to another building on the wine estate, and will offer fine dining. \u00a0The current restaurant will serve light lunches and picnics.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 De Oude Bank Bakkerij <\/strong>is expanding, and will open a retail section selling charcuterie, fresh meats, home-made ice cream, and wines, collectively called De Companje.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Taste Restaurant<\/strong> has moved to Bilton Wines<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Bar1<\/strong> has opened where Sunbird Bistro <\/strong>was in Camps Bay.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Chef Reuben Riffel and his colleague Maritz Jacobs have been contracted to design the menus and prepare the food for weddings and events at\u00a0All\u00e9e Bleue.<\/strong><\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Thai Caf\u00e9<\/strong> is to open where the coffee shop was at\u00a0the\u00a0entrance to Piazza St John in Sea Point<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Sensei Deon de Jongh has left\u00a0Okamai <\/strong>at Glenwood wine estate in Franschhoek.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 The\u00a0Urban Garden Restaurant<\/strong> has opened where Bistro on Rose was.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Isabella Immenkamp, the excellent service-orientated hostess at Burrata, is leaving for Jordan Restaurant at the end of February.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Chef Alessandra Masciadri and her husband Chris Kennedy from Milan have taken over Goloso Deli and Restaurant<\/strong> on Regent Road, Sea Point.<\/p>\n

* <\/span> Bukhara <\/strong>is said to be opening in the V&A Waterfront, where Passage to India was<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Jewel of India<\/strong> has opened upstairs in the ex Wale Rose Lifestyle building in Bo-Kaap.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Josephine’s Cookhouse has closed down in Newlands (ex Caveau), and Toad & Josphine<\/strong> has opened in its space.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Awestruck<\/strong> is said to open in the ex-Caveau space on Bree Street.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Sinn’s Ice Cream Emporium<\/strong> has re-opened in the Camps Bay Promenade, with a reduced space, and much cleaner interior and new furniture.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Wild Peacock Emporium has named its restaurant The Larder<\/strong> for dinners.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Patty September (ex-Boschendal) has taken over as the Manager of Haute Cabriere Restaurant<\/strong> from Lasse Presting.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Bayside Caf\u00e9<\/strong> has closed down in Camps Bay after 24\u00bd years, and\u00a0has moved to Portico Building, corner Marine Drive and Athens Road, Blouberg.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Flatteur<\/strong> is to open where Gesellig was, on the corner of Regent Road and Church Street in Sea Point.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Sage Restaurant<\/strong> has moved to Chabivin Champagne and MCC Farm on the Blaauwklippen Road.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Massimo’s<\/strong> in Hout Bay is changing its name to Amici di Massimo’s<\/strong> for 10 – 12 months, to be run by Johan, while Massimo undergoes medical treatment in Italy. It will revert back to Massimo’s when they return.<\/p>\n
