\"Toyota<\/a>The Sweet Service Award<\/strong> goes to Olympic Locksmiths and is nominated by Butch Rice. ‘My daughter has had a Toyota Corolla for some years, and noticed that the casing of the car key was starting to disintegrate, so phoned Market Toyota on the foreshore. She was quoted an outrageous R2500 for a new key. In addition, she would have to make a service booking, and would have to bring in her id document, and car registration papers. R2500 for a key! To make it worse, they would first have to order the key, making it all sound very complicated. The key\u00a0 had buttons on it for remote locking and unlocking, so was obviously rather complicated in terms of technology, or so they claimed. \u00a0Luckily, I thought it worth trying Olympic Locksmiths in Claremont, who have delivered outstanding service to our family over the years. When I phoned them, they said it was a very simple problem to sort out. They would cut a new key, and swop the microchip to the new key, while we waited. No need for an appointment, just pop in. Which we did, and had a new key in a matter of minutes. And the cost? All of R395. What fantastic service. I cannot recommend them highly enough. They saved us more than R2000 in just one transaction’.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

\"MultiChoice\"<\/a>The Sour Service Award<\/strong> goes to MultiChoice for its confusing communication regarding the change in the transmission channel for M-Net in Cape Town, which was taken over by Cape TV as of Monday. \u00a0Initially the subscription TV company communicated by letter to its ‘M-Net analogue<\/em>‘ customers, stating that it would pay to send out a technician to reprogramme the M-Net decoder, as it was a complicated process. \u00a0A follow-up letter was sent by post. \u00a0Then the message was sent by sms, now asking one to contact Multichoice, for them to send an ‘accredited installer<\/em>‘. \u00a0Then an e-mail followed, asking that one’s contact details be confirmed, but the e-mail address from which the e-mail was sent was a noreply one, meaning that MultiChoice would not receive the reply! \u00a0Then they called, asking to confirm the details, promising that an installer would make an appointment, the costs to be borne by Multichoice! \u00a0Last Saturday they called again, to say that if there had been no M-Net reception problems, all was in order and our decoders would not be affected! \u00a0 For a leading communications company this is very poor communication!<\/p>\n
