* \u00a0Premium South African wines are increasingly being \u00a0exported to other African countries<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, Nigeria in particular, as well as to Ghana, Angola, Tanzania, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 American travelers are likely to rate service satisfaction<\/strong> <\/span><\/a>highest, and the Japanese tourists the lowest, with French, German, Italian, Spanish and British tourists falling in between these satisfaction rating spectrums. \u00a0This finding comes from a multicountry service satisfaction study conducted amongst a sample of 200000 travelers.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 We have it all wrong – the most popular travel time for the UK and German market is August<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, tourists taking about 10 days off, and traveling to the Balearic islands, Turkey, or Greece in Europe, and Mexico on long haul trips, a TUI study of its bookings for 2013 has found.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 ACSA is planning to introduce a service whereby one can buy duty-free goods<\/strong> <\/span><\/a>on departure at Cape Town International, OR Thambo and King Shaka International airports , and pick them up on arrival before going through Customs.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 A new ‘Whale Spotter’<\/em> app<\/strong><\/span><\/a> has been developed to help reduce the number of collisions between ships and whales off the California coast. \u00a0The app will rely on whale sighting input by others.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0In a joint venture between Gauteng Tourism and the Tourism Business Council of South Africa an inaugural travel and tourism conference called ‘THE SUMMIT”<\/em> will be held in Johannesburg on 14 and 15 October. The focus will be the improvement of our tourism industry’s competitiveness, so as to grow our tourism industry. \u00a0Surprising is the short lead time for the Conference, being announced less than a month before it is hosted, and falling into the start of the summer season, when it could have been held in the very quiet winter. \u00a0The theme of The Summit is ‘Value of the traveller’,\u00a0<\/em>and speakers include\u00a0trends commentator and CEO of Fluxtrend Dion Chang; Chris Buckingham, \u00a0Director of Go\/To.P.L from Melbourne in Australia; Eric Xayiya, Gauteng MEC for Economic Development; and Thulani Nzima CEO of SA \u00a0Tourism.
