* \u00a0 A survey conducted amongst 220 residents of the 2000 living in the CBD of Cape Town has found that they are younger; are employed in media and marketing, IT, and the financial industries; \u00a0live in the city centre as well as Bo Kaap, District Six, lower Gardens, and lower Kloof Street; visit Kloof, Long and Bree streets; enjoy living in the city centre because it is close to work, offers diverse entertainment, and is close to other suburbs; most drive to work, despite living close to work; and lack of parking is a negative for the area, as is crime in Woodstock. * \u00a0 Alan Winde, Minister of Finance, Tourism, and Economic Development, recently presented his 2013 Provincial Economic Review and Outlook. \u00a0He shared that the growth rate of the Western Cape is projected to be 3,6% p.a. in the next five years relative to the estimated 3% p.a. global growth rate. \u00a0 The growth rate in the Western Cape Finance, Insurance, Real Estate and Business Services sectors is likely to reach 4,6% p.a. over the same period. \u00a0The Agricultural sector is showing ‘subdued growth’<\/em>, as 40% of its exports are to the European Union. \u00a0Overall the low global growth ‘implications may also be felt in the hospitality sector as people are less likely to travel<\/em>‘, the Minister added. \u00a0 The weaker exchange rate could be a benefit for the Western Cape, and the Minister foresees that the slowdown in the Chinese economy will not have a marked effect on the Western Cape.
