* \u00a0 South Africa has three entries on The Daily Beast<\/strong>‘s 12 best travel places to visit in 2014<\/strong><\/span><\/a>: the Bascule Bar at the Cape Grace hotel; the Kwandwe Private Game Reserve; and wine tasting at Groot Constantia. \u00a0The American website has 15 million unique visitors per month!<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Another hotel is to be built in the V&A Waterfront, described by the retail development as a ‘mid-market, internationally branded hotel<\/em>‘, according to the SA Tourism website, which erroneously wrote in his headline: ‘New hotel slated<\/em> (sic) for V&A<\/em>‘! The V&A claims to receive 24 million visitors per year (without explaining how this number is measured), and to have contributed R200 billion to the country’s GDP in the past ten years! \u00a0The retail and entertainment area already has six 5 star, two 4 star, and two 3 star hotels.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Solar storms are expected<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, and could influence GPS settings, power grids, and airline and military communications.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Qantas is the safest airline in the world,<\/strong><\/span><\/a> out of 448 monitored. \u00a0The other safest airlines are Air New Zealand, All Nippon Airways, Cathay Pacific Airways, Emirates, Etihad Airways, Eva Air, Royal Jordanian, Singapore Airlines, and Virgin Atlantic.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 The Huffington Post<\/strong> features a wishlist to make airline travel more comfortable<\/strong><\/span><\/a> and enjoyable, which includes: \u00a0a la carte tickets, paying for what one wants; electronic boarding passes; landing on time; be able to surf the web on board for free, and fast; refunding baggage fees when the bags get lost; \u00a0show all seats available on a seat map; and responding to complaints.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 The Absolut Black Box is being launched around the country, to showcase art and change viewers’ reality about the work of four ‘transformative South African artists<\/em>‘ Stu Shapiro, Angelo, Falko, and We Set Sail. \u00a0The Black Box installations will move between 20 nightclubs around the country over the year.
