* \u00a0 70% of the economic activity of the Western Cape is focused in Cape Tow<\/strong><\/span><\/a>n<\/span><\/span>, says Wesgro. \u00a0In the period July – September last year the trade, investment, and tourism promotion agency attracted R219 million in investments to the province, which led to the creation of 2000 jobs.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 The Cape Winemakers Guild has added two new interns, bringing to eight its number of Prot\u00e9g\u00e9s. \u00a0The interns spend three years with members of the Guild. \u00a0‘The success story of our Prot\u00e9g\u00e9 Programme in promoting excellence in winemaking and playing a leading role in transforming the industry are major priorities for the Cape Winemakers Guild. We are indebted to our sponsors and suppliers whose generous support has enabled us to step up the intake of our Prot\u00e9g\u00e9s year on year’<\/em>, said Guild Chairman Andries Burger. \u00a0 The interns are\u00a0Rose Kruger of Drakenstein, with a B.Agric, who is working with Jeff Grier from Villiera; and Rudger Van Wyk, who has a B.Sc Agriculture, Oenology and Viticulture degree and is working with Abrie Beeslaar of Kanonkop. \u00a0 All the interns have the opportunity to make their own wines, as part of the mentorship programme.
