* \u00a0 Koos Bekker, Naspers CEO and founder of M-Net\/Multichoice, is to step down<\/strong><\/span><\/a> on 31 March, the company which also owns M-Web and has internet interests in China has announced. \u00a0He and his wife own the magnificent Babylonstoren outside Franschhoek.<\/div>\n

* \u00a0 Qantas has announced the cancellation of its codeshare agreement with SAA,<\/strong> <\/span><\/a>which will be effective as of July. \u00a0 The move appears to be due to pressure from the Australian government to not collaborate with competitors.<\/div>\n

* \u00a0 President Jacob Zuma has declared 7 May, the date of the General Election, as a public holiday.<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/div>\n

* \u00a0 Cape Town International has been announced as Best Airport in Africa for the fourth year. Western Cape Tourism Minister Alan Winde’s office has announced.\u00a0 \u00a0The other Top 5 African airports are Durban, Mauritius, Cairo, and OR Thambo.\u00a0 Upington airport is top airport in the category of\u00a02 million and fewer passengers.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 \u00a0The City of Cape Town clearly has too much money to waste, running a footbridge naming campaign<\/strong><\/span><\/a> in addition to its disastrous new City logo. \u00a0 Six pedestrian bridges over Nelson Mandela Boulevard (the N2 near Woodstock) and one over the M3 are to be named. \u00a0Entries close on 28 February.<\/div>\n

* \u00a0 The Cape Town auditions for Season 3 of MasterChef SA<\/strong> <\/a><\/span>have\u00a0taken place this weekend. \u00a0Kamini Pather, Capetonian and winner of Season 2, and Seline van der Wat, Finalist of Season 2, will be in attendance, as will be judges Pete Goffe-Wood and Reuben Riffel.<\/div>\n
