* \u00a0In what can be described as an election-friendly budget, Minister of Finance Pravin Gordhan announced ‘sin tax’ increases of 9 cents per can of beer, 13c per bottle of wine, 27 cents per bottle of fortified wine, 62 cents per bottle of sparkling wine, 9 cents per 330ml of cider and alcoholic fruit beverages, and R4,76 per bottle of spirits, reports The New Age.<\/strong> Cigarettes go up by 68 cents per pack of 20.<\/p>\n
