* \u00a0 SA Tourism banned Thebe Reeds Exhibitions<\/strong> <\/span><\/a>from attending a Meetings Africa 2014 conference, stating that the international exhibition company is a competitive threat and could sign up exhibitors.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Top South African chefs Margot Janse from The Tasting Room and David Higgs from five hundred at The Saxon addressed the Design Indaba Conference, showcasing local restaurants trends.<\/strong><\/span><\/a> \u00a0The decor design of the restaurant should match the food served, Chef Margot saying that the white tablecloth and candlelight are clich\u00e9s. \u00a0 ‘South African kitchens are paving their own paths towards something unique. Unlike the major culinary destinations, like London, where many of the top restaurants seem to echo each other Higgs feels the flavours and styles being offered locally are as diverse as the country’s many influences’.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

* \u00a0 The MyCiTi Bus service has been recognised for being the first universally accessible transport system<\/strong><\/span><\/a> in South Africa, at an international universal accessibility meeting at an United Nations office in Vienna. \u00a0In making the award, the City’s bus system was recognised for ‘all 35 MyCiTi stations and 161 roadside bus stops are universally accessible; all 379 busses have level boarding, spaces for wheelchairs and an audio LED screen; there is a 22,4 km network of accessible walking and cycling pathways; and 15 000 daily passengers have been recorded’.<\/em><\/p>\n

* \u00a0 The\u00a0Western Cape finals of the 2014 Barista Championship will be held at Hostex Cape at the Cape Town International Convention Centre from 21 – 23 May. \u00a0The competition categories are:\u00a0the Barista competition, the Latte Art competition, the Cup Tasters competition, and the Aeropress competition. \u00a0Six finalists will compete in the national competition thereafter.
