* \u00a0 Chef Heston Blumenthal, with South African roots, is opening ‘The Perfectionists’ Caf\u00e9’\u00a0<\/em>\u00a0in Terminal 2 at Heathrow<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, linking to his TV series ‘In Search of Perfection’<\/em>. \u00a0The 130 seater restaurant menu will feature burgers and pizza with a ‘gourmet twist<\/em>‘, a ‘multi-sensory bar’<\/em>, and\u00a0the world’s first wood-fire pizza oven in an airport.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Stellenbosch American Express Wine Routes attended its first ITB travel expo in Berlin last week, with Stellenbosch 360 and the Wine Routes represented, positioning Stellenbosch as the ‘ideal hub from where <\/em>(sic) to explore Cape Town and the Western Cape’<\/em>. \u00a0 Wine and culinary tourists tend to stay in a destination for longer and spend more, making this segment an important target for Stellenbosch. * \u00a0 Transforming the N1 and N2 into Toll roads is being threatened for the Winelands<\/strong> <\/span><\/a>again, after the City of Cape Town managed to obtain an interim High Court interdict against the implementation of the toll roads last year. \u00a0Sanral is justifying the toll roads on its need to upgrade the roads, at a cost of R10 billion, which it cannot raise from the Treasury.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 The Cape Town International Jazz Festival organiser\u00a0espAfrika\u00a0is hosting a free community concert as part of the already sold-out Jazz Festival on 26 March at 17h00 at Greenmarket Square. \u00a0Performers include the internationally renowned Shakatak, Crazy White Boy, Tasha’s World from the Netherlands, and Sade Ross. * \u00a0 Plascon has launched a new Plascon Colour Design Awards competition with the theme <\/span>‘Uplift’<\/em>, focusing on uplifting neglected social spaces, and is one of about 450 official World Design Capital 2014 projects. The Awards celebrates ‘<\/span>colour, innovation and creativity<\/em>‘, says Plascon’s Anne Roselt. Student and professional prizes will be awarded, the top prize being a trip to New York to the value of R40000 and 100 litres of paint to be used to transform a charity.
