* \u00a0 The City of Cape Town has developed a new parking policy<\/strong><\/span><\/a> based on transport trends in Cape Town, including increasing numbers of delivery vehicles, and traffic congestion in peak times. \u00a0The City plans to discourage parking of 2 hours and longer, by encouraging parking outside the city centre and then to use a different form of transport (the MyCiTi Bus no doubt) to reach the city centre. Demand-based pricing is to be introduced, the bays in higher demand areas having higher charges, and higher demand times of the day attracting higher charges. \u00a0 Smartcard payment is being considered yet again. \u00a0The cost of the first phase of the parking policy is R15 million.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0SA Tourism is running a massive\u00a0#MeetSouthAfrica blogger campaign<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0at the moment, 14 local and international bloggers having arrived in Johannesburg last Friday, and heading in different directions in groups, to discover various parts of our country, until they meet up again in Durban at Indaba this coming weekend.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 The <\/span>Palm Beach Daily News<\/strong> has chosen Glenelly Lady May 2009, a Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot blend, as one of its ten <\/span>top picks for the coming American summer<\/strong><\/a> season. \u00a0It is the only South African wine selected.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

* \u00a0 SA Tourism has appointed Risuna Mayimele<\/strong><\/span><\/a> as its Global Manager Communications. She previously was the Marketing Manager for SABC3, and for Ogilvy Ghana.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 A Canadian wine writer praises four South African wines<\/strong><\/a> under the unfortunate headline ‘What’s that pong?<\/em>‘, referring to past criticism of our Pinotage, with a sub headline ‘South African wines are a matter of preference<\/em>‘. \u00a0The wines that are evaluated positively are Seven Sisters June Merlot 2013 (from Stellenbosch), Frisky Zebras Mystic Merlot (no vintage mentioned, no local producer details found), Waka Waka Shiraz\/Cabernet Sauvignon blend 2012 (made by Perdeberg Winery), and Leopard’s Leap Lookout 2012, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, and Cinsaut.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Chef Craig Cormack will prepare a 4-course French-inspired feast at Hartenberg Estate, at a Pop-Up Bottelary Hills Wine Route lunch on 25 May. \u00a0Wines poured will be from Hartenberg, Kaapzicht, Beyerskloof, and Mooiplaas. \u00a0Cost is R275 per person, including a glass of wine per course.
