* \u00a0The New York Times<\/strong> has listed Cape Town as its number one ‘<\/a>52 Places to go in 2014′.<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0 <\/em><\/strong>Cape Town is linked to the late Nelson Mandela, and how Table Mountain was his beacon of hope. World Design Capital 2014 is also highlighted. \u00a0‘Cape Town is again reinventing itself, and the world is invited to its renaissance’. \u00a0<\/em>The other top ten Places to Go are Christchurch, North Coast in California, Albanian coast, Downtown Los Angeles, Namibia, Ecuador, Quang Binh in Vietnam, Perth, and Rotterdam.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 In a surprise move, the City of Cape Town and Golden Arrow Bus Services have signed two memorandums of understanding<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, agreeing to work together, in the bus company will form part of the MyCiTi Bus service, utilising the City’s bus company branding, and having a common integrated schedule. \u00a0In the past the Golden Arrow Bus Services has taken the City of Cape Town to court.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 An American property site’s vacation page recommends Cape Town as one of ten destinations<\/strong><\/span><\/a> around the world in which to celebrate Mother’s Day! \u00a0In Cape Town they recommend going up Table Mountain, visiting the V&A Waterfront, Cape Point, having a picnic on the False Bay coastline, and having dinner at any of the city’s ‘great ethnic restaurants’!<\/em> \u00a0Cape Town is ranked 10th on the list, preceded by Vancouver, Red Mountain Resort in Utah, Napa Valley, Hong Kong, Captiva Island in Florida, Montreal, The Plaza Hotel in New York City, Broadmoor Resort in Colorado Springs, \u00a0and the number one on the list is Paris.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 South Africa is the leader in Wellness Tourism<\/strong><\/span><\/a> in the Africa\/Middle East region in terms of expenditure and number of trips, research on the eve of the Arabian Travel Market, currently being held in Dubai, has revealed. \u00a0However, the UAE is the fastest growing wellness tourism country in the region.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Interesting restaurant trends<\/strong><\/span><\/a> are being predicted this year via America: \u00a0eggs on everything, even on burgers and pizza; Irish coffee and sake are making a come-back; syrups from unusual sources (e.g. trees) will be increasingly used; Brazil’s smells, flavours, and tastes will trend; restaurants will organise themed evenings for slow traffic nights; restaurant interior design will move away from wood and metal to leather in dark tones.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 TripAdvisor says that South Africa can expect more tourists from Europe<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, offering better value than their neighbouring countries. \u00a0Tourists from Austria, Germany, Switzerland, India, and France are most interested in our country.<\/p>\n
